could we, about a year from the date, book an entire backpackers hostel?

and then tear it apart?

This spurred a very important question. What if you fly out of your country, but then don't have enough money to get back? Does your country just tell you to fuck off because you obviously suck? Does your citenship expire after 14 years? Or is that to be president after you entire the U.S? Do you have to do formal bullshit or can you just flick em off and leave?
 
If I haven't been drafted to fight in WWIII by the time 2009 rolls around, I'm game ;)

Seriously, this sounds like a really good idea, and if it comes to fruition, you can surely count me in!

Definitely not in the US, though *shudders*

A meet up in london sounds about as much fun as shit on a stick..

..Amsterdam however sounds like a winner =D

A Musical festival to center the meet up around is probably the best idea..

god 2009 is so far away!

Me thinks that we should charter a decent yacht and board in southern spain for good quality coke and MDMA then head to morocco for some good hash and smack then party accross the med ending in the eastern med!
prob gonna cost big $$ but it would be worth it!!!!

[edit- for atlas] i'd actually considered somethin like that - to ensure the most poverty-stricken yet essential travellers can get there.

initially i was thinking well we'll pre-sell tickets to cover soundsystem and venue etc... that way we can have a concrete idea of who's coming, and could possibly pool some money into a collective travel fund.

then i realised exactly what degree of crazy batshit difficulty was involved in such an operation... :D
 
I rarely come into this forum, but this thread grabbed my attention. I thin this may be one of the greatest ideas of BL yet. This site has been around long enough, I definately think its time for a BL massive!

O.k, I live in the US and totally agree it is definately not the spot to do this. I think most agree on amsterdam, for obvious reasons, Prague is also on the list. Either or.


Now, if we as bluelighters are really serious about this, and I mean REALLY serious, and put down our pipes/pills for just a few moments each week, we can definately make this happen. How you may ask? I have some suggestions.

Create a another forum for the topic, or another site, part of BL. First things first, we would need to appoint mods/leaders. People who are part of BL, and can help organize the event and manage the forums. It will be in these forums that the dates can be arranged, fares/hotel rooms can be discussed, what part/venue it will be at, who will be attending, etc. Basically everything you would go thru on a private trip.

I like the idea of giving Blers so much time to save up, but lets face it. I think its too long. june 2007 or 2008 would probably work better. People fall off, lose interest, resign get careers, etc. I think it would be too long, but hey thats just my opinion.

I agree with whoever said that BLers are unorganized, irresponsible, etc. Yes, that may be true of many (myself included), but I think if all us hardcore BLers really tried, we could pull this off. Anyone else have other suggestions? I really like this idea, and have always wanted to go to amsterdam (or any other country outside this shithole), but had no one to go with. What better reason to go then to see all my BL buddies? Ill travel alone if need be. Lets make it happen!

It's kind of complicated. There is a list of countries that dont require Visas to travel to another country ...the US and Britain for example. But if you're from parts of South East Asia and wherever else, a visa per country is required and has an expiration date. If it expires and you're not home yet, you're fucked.

I think that the BLers that would actually go to this and aren't just talk will still be around in 09. :)
 
amsterdam sounds like a good idea. cheap to get to from anywhere in europe, and i imagine even US flights are comparatively cheap. the liberal legal environment certainly wouldn't hurt.

americans could plan this as a europe-trip. amsterdam is very central and it's easy and fast to get to london, berlin, paris from there by train, bus or plane.

if we do this, it should be a proper 3-day orgy....at least.


are there any bluelight-locals in amsterdam who would be willing to do or at least considerably help with the organising? if this is to be done in a proper fashion with lots of people, local support would be absolutely necessary... just to find a good, safe place, ensure cheap supplies of whatever is needed (alcohol, music, friends who are doctors and could hang around in case of need, all kinds of small stuff like that...)
