2006 NFL Thread

Sorry Jim, but it does look like the Steelers are cooked for this season. The Raiders had 98 total yards of offense and still won by a touchdown. I can't even type that sentence without laughing. It's easy to say Cower should have kept Big Ben out another week but hindsight is 20/20, the guy's not clairvoyant.

as it saddens me horribly to type so, but I think chances are you are correct. however, PITT did pull out an impressive victory against the 6-2 New Orleans Saints. there might be life in the old Steelers yet, but with only two teams making the playoffs from a 2-6 record since the modern incarnation of playoffs - I'm afraid chances are you're right :(

Yes! Another win!

As far as i'm concerned, the play calling and Rex's interception cost us the game on our very last drive. As quoted by Vic Carucci on NFL.com:

BAD IDEA
The Chicago Bears having Rex Grossman attempt a deep pass over the middle, the third intercepted by Asante Samuel to seal the outcome, with 1:52 remaining in their 17-13 loss to the New England Patriots. Grossman already had been intercepted twice and was clearly off target. The Bears were running the ball effectively. After recovering a fumble at their 22-yard line, they were in position to let Thomas Jones carry at least a couple of times to gain some better field position before having Grossman go to the air. Under those circumstances, Grossman could have tried maybe one throw underneath the coverage before taking a desperate shot at the end zone.

Oh well, 2/3 road games is good for me, and we have a chance to clinch the Division this week against Minnesota.

being happy the Bears will be clinching their NFC division is weak, because the division is very, very weak.

I hope Chicago doesn't get a number one seed again then goes out of the playoffs in the first game.

[THR says both of you play nice!]

my point is simple - there are ups and down in all games. some will go your way and some won't. if your team "would have won the game but for this call" then they need to raise their game to the point where the difference isn't one bad call...

OK listing here the dallas cowboys are going to go the playoff's and the reason way is because we were 3-3 and then we took out bledsoe and brought out tony romo and now we are 7-4 about to be 8-4 after we beat the new york gaints

I wouldn't be so sure. The Giants are loaded with talent and sometimes it takes a total melt-down to jump start a good but unfocused team into gear. How the Giants play against Dallas, obviously, will decide their playoff chances for the rest of the season. I'm very interested to see how Eli Manning responds in the face of 3 terrible games. Will he prove he's actually a Manning? Or will it become increasingly obvious that the milkman delivered a little more than a pint of milk to old Archie's house that one summer?? Stay tuned!

By the way silverboyz, that was an excellent John Madden impersonation. "The reason why the Cowboys are playing better is because they were 3-3 and then they took out Bledsoe and brought out Tony Romo and now they are 7-4. Also, if the Cowboys score more points than the Giants do this weekend, there is a good chance they will win the game." Thanks John!!

With each passing day, a Ravens Bears superbowl gets more and more visible.

I will say that my beloved Eagles are seriously reminding me of last years steelers for their refusal to lose december games. Hopefully it carries into the playoffs.

How About Those Eagles?

Man they really sucked it up big time at the beginning of the season, but now they are kicking ass.

What a turn around.

The game tonight with the last minute field goal was awesome and in the beginning of that game they sucked too.

instead of sitting around watching other men play sports, why don't you get out and play them yourself

Not only do I dislike the Eagles, but I'm gonna move this to the NFL thread in Second Opinion.

Nothin' personal =D=D

I will say, however, that the field goal in the last seconds was pretty impressive.

I don't like the Giants either, but I'm (ashamedly) a Skins fan, and I'd rather see the Giants go on in the playoffs. But, them's the breaks.

Shameless bias PLURmonster, shameless. ;)

You bet on them in the beginning of the season too didn't you?

Because I don't have dozens of people standing by to play football with me at any given time and I enjoy gambling on sports from time to time.

Also I'm getting old and lazy.
