The photographs are the same, but at different resolutions... besides brag-value do you think it might be more useful to produce some 'up close and personal' photographs of individual specimens for p. sub identification purposes, rather than your entire picking from a distance at a couple of different angles?

no i quite like the big hall pics because it gives an indication of what a good hunt can produce. Also i find it quite aesthetically pleasing. and it makes me go 'good for you' :D

Well my patch that only i knew about has just found a new friend. Not to fussed cos i've already made a hefty summer stash. So yeh i guess i'm happy for em cos it was never mine to own. Hopefully the look after it as much as i did :D

how did you know that people found one of the patches you knew off?
Me and friends keep thinking about leaving a note behind on some patches we think others are using so we can meet up and stuff. It would be nice. The only sort of pickers I dont like to much are the ones that trash the place badly...

Grunef - just a lil tip... try to store fresh mushrooms in paper bags rather than plastic bags... storing them in plastic bags means they can't breathe and they will turn into a gooey pile of rotten mush in a short time!
cracker dry mushrooms can, however, be stored safely in plastic bags.

hehe, just found a patch while I was golfing the other day; meanwhile people were sympathizing that my drives were always going into the bushes! ha!

I made the stupid mistake of storing 200 fresh mushrooms in a glass contianer for only about 4 or 5 hours. Just like in those bags you have yours in, the mushrooms can not breathe and bacteria grows VERY quickly.
After that time they already smelt funky as the bacteria had clearly started to grow.
I threw them all out because i knew there would be more mushrooms and I didn't think it was worth the risk.
How long have they been in the bag for? do they smell okay? if they've been in their a while i'd seriously consider not eating them due to the possibility of food poisoning. But that's just what i'd do.

yeah they were only in the bags for the trip home, then they got spread out.... but yeah you can see the stweat from them already in that photo,
some of them did get wasted though as the person who spread htem out didnt spread them out enough and a few that didnt get eaten over hte net few days ended up going funky.
I've now got some that I've dryed heaps, and am storing in a tupawear wraped in paper towl... seemed to make sense to me.
and some one said you can store them in honey.. so we have a few that were still pretty fresh and swashed into a tuppawear then covered in honey, sitting in the fridge... shoudl be interesting....

mate - if you're saving any for consumption beyond a week or two, then you're going to have to dry them out... fresh mushrooms stored in honey go bad.. in fact, you might have little bugs hatching in there and crawling out ! yum yum!

Funny thing happend to me yesterday at work. Having a smoko when we decided to have a look in the tall pine plantatons (i work in the pines near Stanley, a place well know in these parts as mushroom mountain! well know to the local bongheads as, anyway.) One of my workmates called me over (to confirm what he found was the right thing, this weekend will be his first mushie trip.) to what was a huge bacth of P. subs! We tapped and grabbed a shitload and chucked them in our cars. now somebody beat that for a 5 min. smoko!!
