2004 Mushroom season( Victoria)

nope, but I know that one of the two is reduced when they are dried. ie, when P Subs are dried it reduces the amount of one of the two sustances. Due to its instability?
 
any shrooms round warrnambool area?

my mates and i have been on a few hunts and found a few sorts but not p.subs in a few spots been mentioned to us by the people who picked our shrooms for us last year.
was wondering if anyone has had any luck round the warrnambool - port fairy area. we havent been able to find anything yet.
although the mist this morning does look promising.
 
i havent had any luck yet, anyone from the hills area have? talkin connex zone 3 pass people. lol
it hasnt rained here for the last 5 days or so, just been really cold..bitchen
 
MY GOD!!! We saw about 700 or more today!! Didnt pick many of em though. (What would you do with that many)
 
Guys can we please have a bit less of the "anyone found mushrooms in (my area)" posts? It's all pretty much against posting guidelines under the heading Availability Discussion. Just look harder and hope for the right growing conditions.

especially seeing as everyone is in melbourne where they're plentiful... from what i've heard over the past few years, they grow EVERYWHERE in melbourne... hell, someone said they found them in their backyard!

quit asking, and start looking.

it's damn frustrating coming from the city where of no rain (sydney) and hearing people constantly ask for exact spots, when all they have to do is open their eyes and look... it's that easy :\
 
^^^ Yep, no one is going to give up their spots for anyone. They are places found by putting in the effort yourselves. No one (unless stupid enough) is going to throw their patches away for you. And it is also very rewarding when you do find a few patches..
You now all know they grow in woody/woodchip filled areas and also pine forrests that get plenty of water.
Hell, i even hinted to pull out the melways. :)

well thats not always true I have given up quit a few spots to mates over the years but generaly your right. No free rides, do the hard yards and yea shall find the mushroom.
 
i spent many many hours looking, and probably $200 in petrol before i found any sub's... but when i did find them, it was VERY rewarding.

I wish the extreme frustration and pain in the ass that i experienced on every inexperienced mushroom hunter out there :p besides, if you don't find the real deal to begin with, you will most likely come across the lookalikes, and learn how to differentiate between them.
 
I found some realy interesting ones today with a friend. We found them in a rain forest sort of place (near Melbourne) and they looked remarkably different to your average wood chip Subs that can be found arond the suburbs. Allot taller stems (10-14 CM) and very open caps (7-10 CM diameter) with well defined dimples in the middle of each one. Going from dark brown on the dimple to light cream on the edge of the cap. Very interesting find!!
 
You mean like an opposite umbo? That IS odd. I've found a few with the white ringed outer cap before, they're damn pretty :D
 
yeah the oldest ones where like that (opposite to umbo) but the average mature ones had completly flat caps with a subtly curved top with the dimple in the middle. They look very elegant compared to their city based cousins.
 
I went up to the *ranges*. Found lots and lots of little ones and so much fungi... No mushrooms. May have to climb higher and search wider to get results... :)

I usually get heaps of shrooms from where I live but we have had fuck all rain lately, it rained pritty full on last night for the first time in ages, how long does it take for the spurs to get cranking after rain?? Damn this is pissing me off!!! this time last year I was frying some braincells!!
