Mushroom Season 2011

I have seen people on TV get done for picking, how often does that happen and does it carry a heavy penalty?

There was a dude on "The Force" a few years ago that got busted by police while he was searching for shrooms in WA's south and he received a fine and had to go to court.

But the penalties could vary from state to state so don't quote me on the above.

Surely you cant get done for just searching. For all they know you could just be taking photographs of the landscape..... (you must have some in your possession right???)

enough of this commet shit lol

Agreed BUT if anyone here is sitting on annual leave OR has been wanting to go on a holiday....seriously give it some thought....and make a decision soon. You wouldnt want to assume nothing is going to happen and then miss out on whatever you might have been planning. Same thing goes for mending relationships...now is the time to love.

Thats what I love about mushies...the whole aura of love and light.

88breno- You have just confirmed to me what I have been trying to extract from people here....that is you really need a veteran to learn....now, time to reach Bluelighter.

Anyone know when the Brisbane season is likely to start?

I haven't been hunting in over 10 years and I've got a sneaking suspicion that the area that used to be good is now covered in houses.

Raining finally in rural vic... few weeks yet Im tippin' but plenty of non actives.

Is that a sign of good things to come? Im def a newbie to shrooms and my first experience was great, till i leant my car to a 'mate'

It totally wrecked my high

And night...
And next day also...

They're only just coming online in rural Vic.

I have had some small finds in SW Vic areas but, it's not peaking just yet. There will be bumper bush finds in rural Vic in the next 1-2weeks. Bush subs are always later than garden bed subs.

This cold weather and rain should make for good hunting in 3 or so days.

Hey Psilo planning to go away to the bluemountains this week up in Katoomba. It recieved 5 mm's rain over the past day with more rain forecasted. Will this be enough to get the mycelium growing?? Temps are between 5-12 all week.

another pick today, 40grams wet, lots and lots of pins, so a few days and it should be awesome.

did you get my pm ShroomAssasin?

hey everyone, i was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on how one could go about creating a new patch in a private garden bed. Im currently in the process of makin spore prints, but after that point what the hell do i do with em!? The only reason im askin is my local patch, which is a bloody ripper in S.E. melb, has had the mycelium ripped out to the shithouse by some un-informed picker, and the other patch has just had new mulch laid and nuthin is fruiting. Anyhow, im stoned and rambling too much, thank you in advance for any info, peace trippers.

Yep, seems like a feasable idea and simple enough. Wanna pick first, get my own spore prints...and try from that method IF I was going to go down that path. Many thanks for that too by the way. I really appreciate it. How long do they take, say in the perfect environment, with absolutely perfect conditions?

There is a bit much discussion of people meeting up for hunts in here, I would appreciate if you guys could cut that out otherwise I might have to step in. Keep that shit to PM, you are drawing unneccessary attraction to yourselves and possibly this site.

Shroom Assassin, you do not need a veteran to learn, sure with a veteran you are likely to hit subs on your first hunt but personally I think it is a lot more rewarding to be self taught. I taught myself and was an avid shroom picker for years, nobody who ever ate a shroom I picked got sick and obviously neither did I, nobody I have since taught to pick has poisoned themselves or others to my knowledge either.

I coudn't count how many unsuccessful outings I had before I finally found shrooms, had I gone out with someone who knew what they were doing I could of avoided this, but I feel it would of made my first find and my first trip a lot less rewarding. After the first find I was spotting them everywhere, it really is not hard to learn. You should stop being slack expecting others to show you and do the work yourself, bluelight is about helping others and I am all for that but there isn't any good reason you should need another bluelighter to risk their annonymity to save you a bit of reading and trekking about in the cold weather.

@88brenno..never knew how much effort and care you need to take with sterilization and the like..probably just easier if i find new patchs and besides i like to get out a bit, mushie hunting is just a weee bit fun. and that kinda relates to what drug mentor said, i went for heaps of picks before i actually found a single sub. But after that point you find em all the time, almost feels like the mushroom is finding you...i mean god, if 15 year old kids can come up to ya at the train station with a couple of hungry jacks bags filled with with gold tops, then im sure with persistance anyone can find em.

Drug Mentor, I honestly feel that way inside too...and I have mentioned it previously...it would be. I wasn't going to stop looking either, as I have gone as soon as I can every weekend I knew there was a sign the season might have started. Last weekend was the first time I found anything at all that looked remotely similar...but I knew then, with no blueing within 10 mins of picking, theiy're not them, as I showed.

Several people have mentioned that they had not found anything in their first season...and if you've read some of the other topics I've mentioned, and for a moment believed them to be true, then you'd understand that missing out on this season, for me, is unacceptable. But I wanted to get out and about nature too, because she is beautiful and offers so much, and take my family to enjoy it too, and understand some of the beauties that arent taught in schools. I just want to speed the learning process up...and yes, admittedly its cheating AND selfish....I just dont want to risk missing out, even if it comes at the cost of not being entirely as rewarding as it could have been.

Also, everyone has free will. No-one is risking anonymity. All have the right to say No...and I entirely respect every opinion. My path may be that I have to find this out on my own, but it wont stop me asking for help on the way...

p.s. message noted re keeping it to PM. Apologies for that.

So very well said, from beginning to end.

*This weekend is gonna be fricken awesome to go for a pic in Melbourne after this weeks weather!

^ Yep, took me a lot of trips to actually find anything at all.

Do some research and explore Shroomassasin.
