Opioids IV Question (getting over injection nervousness)

^ I can't think of any reason to do a straight vertical stab, apart maybe from insanity.

Ive always really enjoyed needles. Getting my blood drawn etc. So I had a pretty smooth transition in IVing. But Ive had friends who've been deathly afraid of needles and eased themselves into faster than theyd expected to. I agree with the "get experienced help" suggestions. If you know someone who's already good at it you should have them do it for ya :) I had help at the beginning and its much easier to do yourself when youve watched someone else doing it on you.

When i got to the stage where i had to IV cos i couldnt afford it i actually had panic attacks due to injecting, the way i got past that was valium and once i was used to it i stopped freaking out and making a mess of my self so much

Awesomeness

I can't imagine it makes much of a difference but has anyone shot up in their head?? Seriously I got a vein near my temple you know the vein sometimes bulges when someones mad, for years I've thought about trying it but I don't know if I should

^ personally if I'm going to risk a vein being damaged and the risk of blood clots that go with that, I'd rather it wasn't in the head.

I have a friend who has used his forehead veins. If you have pretty strong veins you should be ok but if you've got small and/or fragile veins (for instance I wouldn't bother trying it as all my veins are tiny) it would be a bad place for a mishap lol But if you feel good about it they are said to be easy to hit because of the small amount of space between skin and bone with your vein just hanging out there between them. Just dont get freaked out if you grace yer skull ;)

except for the crook of the elbow that is a ridiculously sharp angle to be hitting at unless your veins clearly bulge out of the arm like a bodybuilders.

At the crook of the elbow its no longer at a 15 degree angle either because you're aiming at a vein thats curving upwards.

By all means go for that angle if you can.. but between 20' and 45' is more realistic depending on the position.

yeah well a sharp angle is distinguished anything below a 90 degree angle. and like you said use what you're comfortable with, that was just my personal opinion as i do have bulging veins. i find it easy to hit other people with such a sharp angle even when their vein is hiding,

but I typically try to keep the needle as close to the skin as possible. It's less painful and you have more room inside the vein to manuever, meaning less chance of poking through the other side of the vein.

this is why i use as sharp angle as possible parallel to the vein i'm using. digging around your veins is terrible and will cause a good deal of shredding the walls of the vein. it also allows for partial missed shots if you've passed through the vein.
