Nootropics (piracetam etc) - mega merged

My Daily Supplement List - Any Comments or Dangerous Interactions?

Ok so we're not talking illegal drugs here. Just for medical purposes to help my brain function, metabolism and general health :) Basically to help me recover from foggy head after a few years of drug use.

I looked up all kinds of healthy stuff and thought well HEY some of these stuff would taste disgusting so im going to put it in a smoothie and drink it every morning. But i was thinking this is a lot of different stuff and drugs. It would give me dhiorrea (sorry sp fail) at the least

SO Im thinking:

ALCAR
ALPHA GPC
Caffine
Fish oil
Hoodia Granaria
Acia juice
Apple cider vinegar

And basic smoothie ingredients :) Sorry if this is the wrong place for this it's just the top two are pretty unknown and i was wondering if it would be safe to mix with the rest of the ingredients.:\ Considering the acidity of the vinegar and the fact that it's a big mix

I've never heard of Caffine, Hoodia Granaria or Acia, but then again I don't have much experience with health supplements.

I'll send this over to Healthy Living for you but the brain supplements threads might be in PD or ED.

OD >>> HL

Caffine=Caffeine:that stuff that makes you hyper after some coffee
hoodia granaria= hoodia:natural appetite suppresant
Acia=acai berry: supposedly melts away fat

OP-honestly this looks like something id put in a smoothie if i was on a diet. idk how this is supposed to help with brain fog tbh. the fish oils are the only thing i can think of that would help out yer brain on that list.

Anything cholinergic (a-GPC, Huperzine A), can cause increased sweating, which depending on your climate may be a problem (it was for me).
I stick to Brahmi, Ashwaganda (good studies showing improved nerve function).

I'm going to add gingko biloba soon, it's just takes a lot of time making all of my own capsules, I buy everything powdered (much cheaper).

Acia=acai berry: supposedly melts away fat

Acai was fad marketing of an exotic plant. I have worked in pharmacy and these come and go all of the time. I would spend my money on CLA or r-ALA if you want body re-composition.

So for what supplements I decide to take I was wondering what king of doses should I take to have them be the most effective?

My pira just arrived. 60x800mg capsules.
paid <snip> inc delivery...and just saw someone selling <snip> delivered!..damn i got ripped..

Oh well, glad it arrived safely. Not going to do attack doses...just 800mg at a time, with 2g choline bitatrate.

Piracetam prices have definitely gone up since the FDA sent that letter out to people selling it. I dunno if its ok to talk specific prices on BL though.

I love piracetam, although I have been off it for a while. I think I am gonna get some more. It definitely helps me feel more together and "with it"

It's not. Thanks for saving me the hassle of editing your post. :P

thanks. In any event, I find piracetam valuable and its definitely an interesting compound. I would highly recommend reading some of the research articles about it, its pretty cool the effects that it has.

Supplements for your brain

I am a extremely smart but it seems that my brains need more food to be able to work correctly. I am a bipolar and it seems that when I go to a manic state my brains go to a phase where they consume all the available nutrients which leads to a depression to make my body enter in a power saving mode.

I would like to know if there are supplemens for brain activity. Herbs, vitamins etc.

sorry but could you edit your first paragraph? its REALLY hard to understand.

if your looking for something to improve memory you could look into gingko biloba, piracetam or choline.

^ That site is actually promoting a ways to enhance your coginitive abilities, not supplementing your brain if you already have a high cognitive abilities. piracetam is a cholienergic agent and taking it only worsens the situation as using it would cause serious depression when your brains try to overdrive and lose their supplies to support synapse routes. Same applies to choline.

Using drugs like methylphenidate does not improve my cognitive abilities but increases alertness and mood but it leads into depression too when the supplements run out. Same applies to modafinil. And I find it irritative to try completing tasks that need repetition.

Omega 3 might help but I already eat a lot of fish and it absorbs much better to my body from fish tissue than from pills.

What about nuts, they seem to contain lots of healthy fats?

To be more specific in my questions, which supplements would cause more ATP production in brains? And is there any other way to increase blood flow to brains beside exercising physically?

Oh ok
So basically you're after something that takes away the depression caused by your high iq, yet is also healthy and supportive of your brain's functioning. Is that correct?
That rules out DXM/booze/opiates/benzos then probably.

You have anything against caffeine? Tea or coffee are good.

Also probiotics have many health benefits. You can get a supplement, or get yogurt.

Your question about ATP production in the brain and blood flow can likely be answered by a well crafted diet.

Anyway that site has a lot of information, I'd suggest poking around more than just the page that I linked.

I did consume over a 1 gram of caffeine daily in forms of coffee, energy drinks cola etc. And it really helped my brains not being "depleted" but it had severe side effects like sleeping problems anxiety etc. and i quitted it because of them. There is a thread here about it and how it went but in conclusion quitting caffeine stopped my need to medicate myself with z-drugs for sleep problems and two different benzos for anxiety and panic attacks. I am quite looking for an alternative for that.

The site you linked has very useful and accurate knowledge but it does not cover the area I am looking into it. But it was a good reading and I gained some information and had proofs for my own thoughts about how brain chemistry works. Thank you for that link.

So instead of increasing my cognitive abilities (getting higher IQ for example), which is at current level very high and even higher than before because I quitted benzos, I am looking for something to fuel and lubricate my brain so it does not fry because of the high activity it is currently going on.

I noticed that goji berries seem to have high proteine value and strong concentration of antioxidants and give a long lasting supply of healthy sugars. Those might be one part of the solution. Now I need something that has healthy lipids (fats) and something to improve blood flow and ATP production.

I think aspirin might help blood getting better to brains?
