The Engagement/Wedding/Honeymoon thread

Don't have a fiance or Gf but i already know what ring i am going to get.... All i gotta do is find a girl that worth settling down with.

Holy wow... that is a stunner of a ring! I'm sure your future wife will be very pleased with that. :) Gorgeous!

AR, I think you handled that admirably. Will your Dad be walking you down the aisle? Divorced parents/stepparents are always a real pain in the neck at weddings. No matter who is paying for it, the bride and groom say what goes IMO! It's your special day and you don't want drama - totally understandable. Stand your ground! <3

given how active she is on your fb, amy, it doesn't surprise me (for some reason-- maybe i feel like i know her through you). You def need to direct your mom to buy a similar dress, then tell dad's wife that hers clashes, and that hers is the one that must be changed. ;)

Thanks for the kind words about the ring, i have always thought i have good taste when it comes to jewelry... Anytime i got a gf some jewelry they always loved it... I like to get things that are unique and to me that ring isn't like every ring every girl has... Has a charm of its own :) Now all i gotta do is find a girl worth it; all in due time

has anyone gotten a non diamond engagement ring? emeralds, or rubies, or sapphires? diamond is my birthstone, and that's all well in good, but it seems so...pallid. is that kind of thing frowned upon, having a tanzanite ring? idk, but i think i'd enjoy a ruby, or an emerald instead of a diamond.

Joannie, who was recently married, has a sapphire, and another girlfriend has a ruby. I have a diamond, but my ring was my husband's grandmothers engagement ring, so the setting, etc make for a very interesting piece of jewelry. If i was, however, to design one, i've always thought that i'd want tanzanite, or a sapphire, as it's something a little different. I have a beautiful tazanite stone ready to be set into a ring :)

tanzanite is too soft for a ring, or any other piece of jewelry you'll wear every day. Just looking at it askew will put a scratch in it. :\

But this stone is already set in a ring? :\ It's in a yellow gold setting (and i don't wear yellow gold). The stone is cut in such a way that it would sit flat against the metal (the way it's set now). The ring it's now in isn't new; and there are now flaws in the stone - i'm guessing/hoping because of the way it was set. I'll have a chat to the jeweler who made my engagement ring as well *sigh*. Tanzanite is such a beautiful stone. Thanks for the heads up, Pander. :)
