Television while tripping

Im able to enjoy a music DVD near the end of the trip but during the trip I would rather be outside in the sun.

I'm thinking Speed Racer on 2c-e might be interesting...it looks highly visual from the previews.

I watched Limitless on DXM, that was pretty awesome :)

Didn't read many previous posts, but hands down the most mindfuck moment I've experienced tripping was watching my Futurama 4th season DVD's. One of the episodes is an allegory of the Damnation of Faust and somehow my LSD twisted mind managed to fully believe for a short period that reality as we know it is a complete fabrication as a result of a joke in that episode. Ridiculous, yes, but very real nonetheless. TV programs aren't all bad, but as others here have stated and/or ridiculed, commercials water down the experience quite a bit.

Mescaline is the ultimate drug for watching TV, in my opinion. I generally don't like being around technology when tripping, but something about mescaline makes TV insanely enthralling...

Oh man I completely agree and I highly recommend everyone to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs while you are tripping. Watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on mescaline was absolutely mind-blowing and left us all wanting more. The cartoon seems to keep ending but right before it ends it takes off again. Watching movies on methoxetamine was an experience on its own and even thought we were able to follow the plot, we found ourselves laughing at things that would possibly offend somebody else who wasn't under the influence.

Of course reality is a complete fabrication, and yes its all just a joke, except its impossible by definition to "get the joke" till you're dead

8o HAHA =D

"Xavier: Renegade Angel" and "Tim & Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job!" on 2C-I: simply amazing. This is how these shows were meant to be seen.

^ During that 1.5 seconds you experienced an eternity of being dead, of being every other being ever to exist in the universe, then you wound back to the proper moment in the time stream and were reborn as your normal "self."

Of course you remember nothing of that, as it is "impossible."

It's like "This sentence is a lie."

Impossible, but WHOMP there it is :D

Whatever it was, it's the most immersing psychedelic experience I've had yet. I've only had a few low level DMT trips and don't have enough access to mushrooms to have had a true comparison though sadly. And K is just it's own animal...

Woah, the meaning of life is Futurama??? lol

I found Futurama a bit quick, too much going on & too much movement. It does look gorgeous though, Futurama's space explosions look GOOOOD! But I get nauseated by all the activity & Futurama normally only gets a look in once any nausea has eased.

I've binged on tootsie while watching the lord of the rings saga (extended version). just awesome.

No disrespect meant, but I would never, ever, ever watch TV while tripping.
To me, personally, it is a complete waste of a trip.
Why would anyone want to use a chance to experience personal or cosmic bliss to instead experience lowest-common-denominator "culture"?
I cannot possibly fathom the logic involved.
I am not trying to judge anyone else who chooses to do so, but I would rather do essentially anything than watch TV while tripping.
I do not understand how anyone who could watch TV while tripping could be respecting the experience. Not saying it is impossible; just that I cannot understand.

While tripping, I would much rather: (in no particular order)

- stare at a patch of grass
- get lost in my blankets
- spend an hour feeling what my tongue feels like from the inside
- melt ice cubes on my head
- feel the texture of my hands
- draw lines without "meaning"
- lie perfectly still, not thinking, to try and experience complete stillness
- run, jog, walk, swim, hike, bike, crawl, or limp somewhere
- explore different flavors, smells, and textures of food - even very ordinary food
- write a poem
- draw a picture
- listen to music
- make music
- look at art books
- read some poetry
- go to the ocean, feel the sand with my hands and feet, stare at the water
- go to the forest, climb a tree and space out there
- pet a dog
- tell stories with a friend
- give/get a massage
- make love
- close my eyes and travel wherever my mind takes me
- go see live music
- people watch

etc. etc. etc

There is never enough time while tripping to do the millions of amazing things that are part of exploring myself and this world.
How can someone instead put on the blinders and expose themselves to TV?
My mind boggles.

This goes for movies as well. No matter how brilliant the movie/ TV show, I would much, much rather be exploring my heightened state, or the beautiful world around me.

(I have not always felt this way. When I was a teenager and beginning my tripping career, I watched The Wall while on mushrooms and enjoyed it. But my thinking has changed over the years.)

I don't enjoy TV much while tripping, movies on the other hand I enjoy very much; It's got to be the right movie though. I've found that movies with a 'dark side' to them tend to bug me out a bit, faces start looking sinister or evil and I will take my attention away from the movie and just be lost with it if I try to watch it again. I want to watch Inception or Limitless on my next trip, or maybe both. Anyone ever watch any of the Star War's movies while trippin, that would seem to be awesome!

Well, to be fair, wouldn't the person adamantly against television while tripping be the one with blinders on? :p

Certain psychedelics are definitely more suited to TV than others. Many psychedelics put me in a frame of mind where I don't want to watch TV, but there have been occasions where I have been really fascinated by the TV and thought intimately about it while tripping. This is pretty much guaranteed to happen if I take mescaline around a turned-on television!

Always possible.
Closed-mindedness is the only real "sin", if you ask me, so I cannot disagree with you.
And yet, I have seen enough TV to know what I think about it, and open-mindedness can only go so far before it becomes stupidity...

Gosh, my finger got burnt in this fire!
Let's try it again...
It got burnt again!
Let's try it again...

No offence, but people like you frustrate me. Your more narrow minded than the people you criticize. I'm tripping, I'll do what I like and enjoy it, if you get lost in your blankets and find that more respecting than watching TV I'd be slightly worried, when I'm on acid that sort've thing is impossible, it's not like I can't do anything I normally wouldn't.
Some of your ideas are excellent, but some are on par with watching TV.
I'm not saying I don't enjoy exploring when tripping, things look awesome especially plants and the like, much more detailed and profound. But so is watching funny movies and the like, I enjoy hitting the giggles just as much as every other aspect of the trip and acid encourages.
There is no specific way to trip to do correctly once you've consumed the drug. Just enjoy it how you want to.
I think this sort've thing is particularly relevant when you've enjoyed the likes of acid a good few times, the whole 'new' feeling wears off.
