Television while tripping

South Park on Ketamine was odd. Made no sense at all (though not surprising perhaps due to the K-hole I was in at the time).

Watched some BBC 3 on a very low dose of 2C-P, but as it was just a threshold dose, it still made sense.

I can't picture watching a movie on any dose of L. I could barely sit through a 15min cartoon. With a threshold dose, i wouldn't be able to sit still and pay attention to a plot. With a higher dose, i'd be too immersed in the trip

Seems like kind of a waste.. I've watched TV on low-doses of MDA but not any movies, mainly just concerts and a show or two

The new Fringe episode that will air on 4/15 is entitled "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide"...anyone brave enough to watch it on acid? hehehe

Watched BBC Wales' Merlin (season 2) on an old cathode TV. The CGI chicken (aka the dragon) looked awesome, like a golden glowing god. The plotline was hilarious but extremely predictable, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm just wondering what other people think. Is the tv a meaningless lit up box? Or is it an experience on its own?

For me...

1) I get an odd anxiety feeling if I think about sitting down and watching TV whilst tripping, I feel as if I am "wasting" my trip and usually go find something else to do ASAP

2) The times I have tried watching TV whilst trippping are extremely psychologically overwhelming to me. It's just way too much sensory overload, not the visuals but the psychological aspect. I usually find myself thinking I am some character or that the movie is some how communicating directly to me in some profound way that its simply too overwhelming and exhausting to my mind.

I've never puked on psychedelics ever, except for a few times while trying to watch movies. "V for Vendetta" made me hurl like there was no tomorrow.

TV on other drugs is pretty awesome though, like opiates or just some marijuana...

When I first started doing psychedelics 11+ years ago, the tv was meaningless. To me, the tv was a lit up box, and nothing more, I just couldn't get into it. I will admit, I watched tv during the comedown of trips. I remember coming off a strong mushroom trip, and being absolutely entranced with the movie To Live and Die in LA. Now I naturally love being outdoors during my trip, but for weather reasons, this is not possible all year. So lately, this winter, I've been tripping indoors, and the tv has become just awesome. Maybe, it's because nowadays, everyone has a big flat panel tv, and it's easier to see detail with HD. But watching colorful movies in the dark, is an experience, and the movies do not stop at the boundaries of the screen, they continue on the walls. This is better than any 3d tv i've seen. Anyway, once warm weather arrives, I'll probably forget about it, but I'm just wondering what other people think. Is the tv a meaningless lit up box? Or is it an experience on its own?

Honestly, on LSD i can't even CONSIDER the tv until im coming down. and when i do watch tv when im coming down off LSD, it's special.

on shrooms though, everything i watch that entertaines me...whether it's Netflix (some documentary, scrubs, or futurama etc. etc)...i'm completely amazed. some of my friends HATE the television while trippin. some of my friends agree with me. your mind is so open, movies/shows/TV really does enhance the high

with all that said, EVERY time i've tripped off shrooms or acid....i HAVE to stop -watching tv/listening to music/talking- and go outside to "meditate" aka, breathe deep....lose myself in nature.

i go both ways. i couldn't imagine a TRIP in front of the TV the whole time though.

p.s. video games are awesome while coming up/coming down. they're so much more meaningful :P

Probably ten years ago, I was going into the peak of my acid trip. We went to my friends house, who is tripping too, to play marvel vs capcom. It's as wildly colorful as any game, and pretty complicated too. My friend was sitting to my right, and on a recliner, to my left, was his mom. She's very cool, but obviously she had no idea what we were up to. I could feel her watching me, as I intensely battled my friend. Then she says to me, "you are really serious about this game, I can watch the reflection of the game in your eyes". I could barley contain myself. I was bursting at the seams with laughter, but I kept it together. ahhh memories=%)

The Holy Mountain is one hell of a movie to watch while tripping... Just be sure not to watch the Exorcism of Emily Rose or anything really scary... unless you want to be scared shit less.

^ Holy Mountain is made of pure win. So are all his other films. If ya really wanna get freaky then his best mate who makes similar films only with even less chance of anyone seeing them (Fernando Arrabal) turned out a few corkers. Viva la Meurte or The Guernica Tree are probably the least obscure of his "well-known" ones. If you like Jodorowsky you can hardly fail to approve :)

I saw the movie The Cell in the theater when I was really stoned on opiate pills...It was a bit too much for me. Exorcism of Emily Rose scared the crap out of me sober, I cannot even fathom trying to see that stoned. I think I watched Fear and Loathing on a high dose DXM trip but it was just weird instead of scary.

i find the tv can be a useful tool for when im tripping

if the mood needs changing its easy to swap channels

there are the music channels and radio channels for when you cant focus no matter how hard you squint

tv allows you to see things without having to go anywhere, think wildlife, natural features of the earth

the first time i took acid i remember watching the opening of parliment, man that was good

last trip i had we all watched fear and loathing just as it started kicking in, that was pretty good apart from i couldnt understand alot of what jonny depp was saying

however i do agree its not ideal for most times, you just got to plan things so you dont spend all trip watching it (think getting lost in the sky menu 8o)

I dropped 4 hits and watched Alice in Wonderland at one point of the trip. I got to the end of the movie and was like WTF JUST HAPPENED?!? And watched it again. Got to the end again and was like WTF JUST HAPPENED??

It was a very strange experience.

Planet Earth Blu ray on a 58"plasma whilst on 2 hits of acid straight after seeing Shpongle perform was by far the best trip I have had. Watched 6 hours of it straight. So much beauty in this world

Damn...I couldn't trip last night since it was too late but I drank alcohol and watched this with a couple friends and it was *weird*...possibly the weirdest movie I've seen? It seems like it would be a good movie to watch tripping, it had a lot of interesting set design. But it was wholeheartedly random and ridiculous and seemed to be attempting to offend in every possible manner. Lots of nudity too.

I want to get a trip report on someone tripping hard while watching this movie.

maybe i'll watch it again on my next 2c-e trip LOL. apparently they're re-releasing on bluray later this month...

I'm sure it would be fun jedi-flipping if anyone's brave enough <3 (according to wiki people who worked on the film did lots of LSD and shrooms)

I really want to see Holy Mountain. I've never heard of it before.:o, but it looks great.

Has anyone with instant netflix checked out the movie Visions of Suffering?? This is the most trippy shit I've ever seen, it would probably terrify someone peaking on lucy. No joke.8( I never did finish it though.
