Thanks for your replies - zaramorph, those videos were amazing. thanks for that. Im glad I found this thread.

Hey all.

This is my very first post here. Basically I came accross this thread accidentally and was just amazed by reading it so i felt i had to come on here and ask a few questions. please do not get abusive at me or my ignorance but I had this idea about people that took heroin as being down and out and unable to string any form of sentences together, never mind use the internet or be able to use a forum.
please just know that its not because i look down on users, its because i dont know one single person that has ever done it and the only thing i know about heroin is what my parents told me or what i see in the movies. I'm live in a fairly big city in ireland, so god only knows how i managed to get through 30 years without coming accross heroin. i myself would be a very heavy weed smoker and i have taken / will continue to take ecstacy, coke and speed on big nights out or whenever its available. I'll probably try mushrooms and lsd eventually but the one drug i have never desired to try was heroin. why? because i see on the tv, the horrible conditions that users live in, that they will sell their children in order to be able to buy it, they die, once you use once your hooked for life etc... up until i came accross this thread i would have continued to think this was true - but you all seem like stable, normal decent people and im wondering what is the difference between you guys and the horror stories that i often hear on tv? is it possible as a user to get up in the morning, take the kids to school, or get yourself to school/college, cook dinner, do housework and all the other activities of daily life that we all need to get through? do you have jobs? again, i am in no way trying to offend anyone here and im not in the slightest anti-drugs - i am very very innocent when it comes to this form of drug and its use. i am extremely curious to know what happens in the day to day life of a user. for me, im addicted to weed, i save it to the evenings tho. im in college studying to be a nurse by day, but when i come home i roll a few and smoke for the night. is it typically the same with heroin? are any of you big weed smokers as well as heroin users and would you care to tell me how similar or different these two drugs are... a good honest reply is something im looking for!!
thanks.

you from dublin?

Its my pleasure hun.. glad i could give you some good info.. but seriously, when i was in my 20's, i did try all types of drugs, and thought i'd never ever try the "dirty smack" but since i made the mistake of giving it a go.. things have never been the same for me since, ive lost a lot through using heroin, i was niave to think it would be ok to just give up.. ive tried to give it up more times then i can remember & believe me when i say its the hardest thing ive ever tried to do & if im honest, i dont know if i can ever give it up, its become my life, & i bet the majority on here will agree with me..pls never ever go there

Enjoy your weed hun.. stick with that as your choice of drug.. that way, you can still function & have a good future, TC x

@china, how's things up the east side? Plymouth is slowly getting ok h again, but nothing near pre-drought, hope it returns to some normality soon..

im from cork.

Cork has never had a heroin problem,id say i could count on my 2 hands the amount of heroin addicts in Cork

Dublin on the other hand has been flooded with gear since the 80's,and there is an estimated 30,000 users in the dublin area

i hear limerick is getting a big heroin influx these days whereas 5 years ago there was no H addicts there

i believe weed/hash is more damaging to the users brain than heroin.
i know of plenty of ppl that have gone schizo/paranoid/serious mental problems after years of using cannabis

id much rather physical sickness of heroin than the long term effects of cannabis anyday of the week

heroin withdrawal aint easy but it only usually lasts 4 days and like a bad case of the flu, while weed can fuck yer brain up for life

Great advice Zara, although i love my mistress & cant ever see me leaving her ( even if she did dissapear for a couple of months ) a part of me wishes what would of been if ?? Yet @ the same time as long as you have the cash & a steady supply of good gear life really isn't too much of a problem for me . However Curious please listen to Zara's wise words stay with your recreational drugs & be safe ! All the best Louiexv1

i aint jokin pal. it takes 4-5 days for me, for all the physical symtoms like the runs, restless legs, sneezing the whole time, goose bumps, cold sweats, smelly stinking sweat,no sleep..... to go away. and maybe an extra few days for my sleep to get back to the norm

but im usually right as rain after a week

Ah bollox!!!!! :! I decided to try to save a few quid to~night but it was a bad idea!!! A bloke that i know was selling 0.3 for €20 in Dublin 11, i thought that i'd go for it coz Dublin 11 is right beside where i live & €20 is pre~drought price, but it wasn't pre~drought gear, i'm so pissed off with myself for being lazy & for trying to save a few quid, i let my guard down, deep down i just knew that it was a bad idea!!! Well more a stupid idea to buy 6!!!!

I had been getting good gear for over a week now, but i was paying €30 for 0.35, & it was well worth it!!! My boyfriend & i bought 6 bags of the stuff to~night & its pure crap!! A total waste of €120!!! Its that stuff that was going around 6 weeks ago, the stuff that looks perfect on the foil but there is no buzz off it what so ever I can't believe i got stuck with bash again, things had been going so well with gear for the last while!!

That is the last time i'll try to save a few quid, i even asked your man how come his stuff was at pre drought prices, & he just said coz we were buying 6 bags bla~bla~blaaaa...... Its all just bull shit that they tell you anyway!!! Also i'd heard a few people saying recently that they had got pre drought gear at the old price. He swore that it was amazing gear & 2 of my mates had scored some of the same gear earlier & they thought that it was really good???!!!! Although these are the same 2 mates of mine that have been buying bash since November!!! They are boyfriend & girlfriend & they would score any old crap, so i was a stupid to listen to them in the first place!! Why oh why......??

So my North Dublin update to~night is, that there is good gear around Dublin at the moment, its not as good as what i was getting before the drought but it is good. But there is also plenty of bash still around, my advise would be, don't run out & buy 6 bags in one go like i did, buy one & if its good go back for more. Also if they are selling at pre~drought prices, stop & ask your self why, if its good gear they can & probably will charge more for it!! A~haaaaaaaaa!!! I can't believe i was so SO stupid!!!!

@ Zara, hi~ya!!! :) Its great to see you back on Bluelight!! I hope all is well your end?! You gave some good advice in your post about using!!!

I haven't seen Basketcase on B.L. in a while either, i think she was trying to stay clean, i hope its working out well for her!!

5 months into the drought, who would of ever thought it?! At least there are some good bits around now at last!!! :)

dont take this personal but buying 6 bags at pre drought prices is a recipe for disaster at the mo especially in D11

does everybody close to you know you are using, and does it cause problems with your relationships with people?

na all me mates and me brothers are on it,so was me da...im from ballymun and most of the area is on methadone or gear..if its around that is

the drought looks to be over now so we're all delighted...hopefully it stays that way

Verycurious - heroin's a bit like magic, no place for dabblers. Once you're into it, you're into it. People do get back but rarely all the way. See above.

Blondin, think "only 4% ever come off methadone" is one of those fake statistics used to support a 'no more scripts' treatment agenda. It's standard technique for abstentionist opiophobes, they've being doing it for years. The latest e.g. relates to the ''success'' of rehabs -" if you take an eight day period, 19.7 months after discharge, don't count weekends and women whose name starts with K, statistics prove conclusively etc." Tragedy is no-one bothers to check and they get away with it time after time.

It's very strange, the entirely negative media representations of addicts and addiction. You never see a happy drug user on tv or in the papers but "my heroin hell" features are everywhere. Of course they really mean "my financial, legal and social hell" but it's the dope that gets the blame. It seems part political, to keep everyone afraid, and part unthinking primeval, where most fear has its origins. How many 'users' ( even language is stolen to shape your thoughts) would stop feeling bad were heroin legal and respectable? As it is, if you've a responsible job ( as many addicts have, especially if 'scripted' ) you'll get the boot if you don't stay in the closet. Same person, same competence but nobody thinks beyond the fantasy drummed into them since primary school.

Didn't know there were no Limerick addicts 5 years ago, from you-tube they've surely caught up for lost time. As for the castigated Mr Brown, it's probably healthier to smoke heroin than fentanyl patches. But it's understandable why he strives to avoid the label of 'smackhead'.

People don't think cos they think it's easier that way. Lot of things they're told to think and to think it's their thought. 'Heroin can expose the "washed brains are sexier" indoctrination of the cosumer brigade. First off, you buy a bag instead of that designer dishware. Later, you wonder why you would ever buy such things and what, in fact, makes you 'happy'. You think about what you need and thus start to think for yourself. To think, period. The way it should be. Maybe that's the historical purpose of Europe's epidemic. Don't expect to see it on tv.

For all we know, maybe a "think tank" is responsible for the drought. Ah well, as long as they know we come in peace and leave us Dublin..

No, the Rubberbandits have still to put Limerick on the map over here. Any idea how it changed? Was the heroin fashion an overnight thing, as in so many other towns, or do things move more slowly in those parts?

BLers have to keep the standards up, SG, lest they get chopped by those ruthless moderators. :)

the rubberbandits are defo bagheads!!! lol

on a serious note, the story behind limericks heroin scene from what ive heard from heads close to the scene.......

the drug scene before the mc carthy/dundon gang took over in limerick was mostly coke, hash,e's and vals. . after a lot of them were locked up in dublin prisons like mountjoy and cloverhill they made connections with some dublin heads who then started supplying the limerick gangs with H
