Good Documentaries

I came across them quite recently but not really delved much so far, TLM. I keep coming across great doc sites with such massive selections I could watch 24/7 and never keep up with half the stuff that interests me. Have posted loads of good sites here and there but WatchDocumentary is the one I'm ploughing through most often at the moment. Following on from the Horizon talk above, they've got dozens of episodes on there all nicely grouped together. Tis the way they post complete series of docz that that site is best for.

Gripping affirmation of what we already know about Southern cops.
I'm pleased that this was the work of foreign cinematographers because it can't be accused of unfair bias. With absolutely no cause, the Jacksonville cops rush to judgment in this case and pick the first black suspect to accuse of the murder of a white, foreign tourist. They picked a 15 yr. old kid who is just about as close to a saint as you could randomly find and then make fools of themselves trying to pin an unlikely case against him. In addition to the unfairness resulting from the blatant prejudice there is the matter of 6 months of unjust imprisonment of a completely innocent young black teenager. It makes one question whether as a society we should compensate those who are charged, imprisoned and subsequently found innocent. This docudrama is well produced, professionally recorded and presented in a captivating package from which you won't want to take a 1 minute break. If you care about social justice, don't miss this one. It certainly deserved its Oscar.

I bet that show is brutal. They hate weed. I couldn't believe the contrast between the MDMA & the cannabis episodes of that last one that was on. Quite a few people have said that if you watched the MDMA one with no real clue about the drug & no idea whether you want to take it or not, you'd probably decide after watching it that you're going to take it lol. Whereas the weed one exaggerated the bad points & played down the good points.

Just watched this. Great doc. Particularly liked the bit when the defence lawyer talks about bumping into one of the bent coppers outside the courtroom on a fag break:

"Nice to see you're sucking down another cancer stick," says the bent plod.
"Yeah, I always like to smoke a cigarette before sex," says the lawyer before totally fucking said bent copper on the witness stand a few minutes later =D

Absolutely shocking case - amazed the piggies thought for one second they'd get away with it. I won't give away the result but there's a nice lil twist just after the verdict is given. Well worth a watch. Issy would have a field day with it ;)

^Cheers! :X;)

What a spoiler! =D Only having seen the first couple of minutes i was just about to finish watching it! :|

Enjoyed the book so just took it for granted it would be worth a watch :\

I think that to never judge a documentary by its cover is the lesson to be learnt here! ;)

Watched this on BB4 last night and it's one of the best documentaries I've seen on TV in years

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00y5jhx/The_Secret_Life_of_Waves/

It's about, well, waves which may sound a little dull at first, but the program goes off on a tangent and discusses not only the physics and acoustics behind waves, but philosophy and has some amazing interviews with some seriously intelligent people.

I didn't know they still made documentaries like this, but well done to BB4, it was fucking brilliant.

^^ Agree mate. Only watched half of it so far, but it's such an original topic. Energy in action, and vision. A great demonstration of the transition of energy.

thanks for the list shambles!
i've been searching some english sites for quality documentaries and topdocumentaryfilms in particular is exactly what i was looking for.
