The radio used to play brain stew and jaded as one song, back in the days when the radio played decent music.

Green day used to be one of my favorites back then. Dookie and Insomniac were great albums, kerplunk and smoothed out slappy hours were pretty good too. I agree that after insomniac (nimrod I believe was next) they started their decent into suckdom. Now they are unbearable :|

I always thought bad fish was about smoking weed ("won't somebody get me off of this reef" as in reefer) but your interpretation makes more sense as Bradley was major heroin addict.

dookie was THE first album i had ever bought where i could just press play and enjoy the ENTIRE FUCKING CD. god what great times.


i used to listen to "she" on repeat when the CD first came out....IT WAS NEVER ON THE RADIO. it was 2:14 of pure fucking awesome. a decade later they play it on the radio and claim it was a single when dookie came out. WTF WAS I? god i loved that whole CD it was the soundtrack to my puberty years.

Totally man, dookie was actually the first CD I ever bought. I had that thing on repeat in my discman for years. Music in the early to mid 90's was so much better than most of the shit played on the radio these days. Great times indeed. I grew up a few hours east of you in Nashville btw :)

This song reminds me of when I used to wake up in a dark cold room so sick I could not stand up and yet could not sleep.. bodily fluids flowing profusely out of every orifice. Fucking disgusting. At that point I could only think of perpetuating my addiction until I was forced into abstinence. Every second without it misery unending.. I could not function.

Basically, in this verse replace "you" with "heroin."

Err.. you are doing it wrong. I think OP meant for this thread to be about songs that have a personal meaning and evoke some kind of nostalgia relating to drug use. Your example pretty much references a drug by name.
