Apologies for the separate thread, but this a historical game - arguably the most anticipated early-regular season game in basketball HISTORY.

So many sub-plots.

I have some thoughts, but I'd like to hear some others' thoughts first - I'd like to kick off the thread in an unbiased way.

Let's do this!

I dont think it is the most anticipated game of season or even in regualr season basketball as the Cav's have no real names and there not that good, now games that will be good and I would look forward to watching will be when the Heat take on the Lakers now that would be an amazing game.

Cavs have no real names, but you aren't subjected to the hype of this game 24/7, when you are living in Ohio

at least Cavs VS Heat should be a good game. does anybody in their right mind think Heat VS Lakers should be competitive? not with the way the Heat are playing

Wolfy might say that the Heat are better than the Cavs, but then why do they sport an almost identical record??

I'll be watching :) I just hope LBJ doesn't get hurt. I don't think most of you realize how crazy those Cleveland fans can be, most of the time. you all live safely, neatly tucked away in NYC or LA, blasted by so much media that you can choose sports to be irreverent for you. not in the CLE

in Miami there's actually a chance that its TV ratings will be higher than a Dolphins road game. I hope so. The Heat is the only team in South Florida that is trying to put out a quality product. In contrast, the management of the Dolphins, Canes and Marlins are clueless. Especially the Canes. Ever since that woman took over the U they've gone downhill

Zaslow thinks every Heat player should do the powder ritual before tipoff. synchronized.

lol Ilgauskas is gonna get cheered supposedly

Do not tell me you are in the Donna Shalala hater bandwagon? All of these rumors were started about her by conservatives who hate her for working with the Clinton administration. The Canes are offering real money for a coach for the first time ever. $3-4 million dollars. Oh, and she is responsible for putting Wisconsin on the college football map.

I'm sorry I have nothing to say about the game. Except that the records are not identical, if you listen to ESPN all day and never look at the actual standings, you would think that the Heat are a losing team. They are 11-8, while the Cavs are 7-10.

in the mindset of professional basketball, they are fairly close IMO. both teams are fighting for a last seed in the NBA playoffs

looks like I will have a watching party over at my house with some beers and friends

Ilgauskas getting cheered? I don't know about that. I have to give him props for all he has done and said about the City of Thieveland, but the fact of the matter is he is a shooting center (wtf?) that can't play defense, and that's why nobody truly cared when he jumped ship as well. still, a very nice guy fwiw

I just ran across this youtube gem, Hitler reacting to LBJ leaving Cleveland for Miami

here it is

I implore all of you, who are just as excited about this game as me, to check this out

thanks for your support! does anybody think that we can actually win here, or are they just rooting for the upset of the decade (maybe not that drastic, that title would perhaps go with a first round meet up in the playoffs where the Cavs won)

I'll be at the game. Can't wait for this shit!

And yeah... I do think Z will get cheers, if for no other reason than to contrast the boos that LBJ will get. Either way, Z "served his time" and though he departed as an afterthought he was still beloved in Cleveland. I can see the fans, tonight, serving him with a pleasant round of applause. LBJ on the other hand... maaaaaaan... I wouldn't wanna be in his shoes tonight. I don't think he's gonna be bad by ANY means, but if anyone thinks he's gonna put up monster numbers tonight... I'd have to disagree. I think he's gonna be nervous, he IS human after all... he DOES remind us of it every chance he gets (even though he also puts himself on a pedestal). I think the constant booing will bother him from time to time and force him to make a few dumb mistakes, nothing critical, but the occasional lapse of judgment or break in concentration. I think his numbers will be about average (by his standards) or a little less than usual, but definitely not 50+ points, which I keep hearing from some members of the Cleveland media.

I've mentioned already, if the Cavs can pull out a victory tonight, there will be rioting on Euclid Avenue.

this is from an old magazine that my friend just scanned:

ryan - you lucky dawg! when are you going to come back down to C-bus and chill with me again and watch sports and get high ;)

Let's make it sooner rather than later!

Also... to give people some perspective at how "red headed step child" people treat Cleveland... a buddy of mine who's been constantly CONSTANTLY talking shit about Lebron... almost every word out of his mouth for 7 years was how much he hates Lebron (he's an anti-ohio sports fan), now all of a sudden can't stand hearing about Lebron and says "get over it." My point... he's far from the only person like that around here (and other places) which goes to show, people are so hateful towards Cleveland that when they've had an opinion for 7 years... the second Cleveland agrees with them, they change their tune just to continue lambasting the city and it's fans for something they themselves did for 7 years and would continue to do had he stayed here. Haters... get fucked.

The best thing is... almost every one of those assholes, when you ask them why they hate Cleveland sports so much, says "cause they suck." How's that any different than being a front runner?

Also... anyone remember the kid at the Cleveland Indians game who showed up in a Lebron jersey right after he announced his decision? The kid was an instigator for sure... well he'll be there sporting his LBJ jersey again. Again, I'm fine with that, but if it's solely with the intentions of instigating, riling things up, and causing problems, then I'm sure he'll get what he's got comin to him and even the empathetic side of me won't give two shits.

I think it's hilarious that sports fan from huge markets like NYC and LA hate on little old Cleveland. it is almost sad, for a fan from a big city (that obviously has an easier time pulling in money and grasping at straws in the draft) to place so much hate on a city that yes, might not be the sports power it once was back in the day, but still has thousands of eager, loyal fans

as much as I don't like the Browns, we don't see their games blacked out like Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, and Cincinnati. LBJ turned his back on his very own city, a city where if he stayed and won won championship, it would be equal to the three he can win by taking the easy road in Miami

any ideas if LBJ will do his "ceremonial" chalk skit at the Q?

I feel worrisome over the safety of such instigators you described above, ryanlaughlin. I wouldn't just openly mess with a bunch of CLE fans. just tell that to the 9 year old kid that got roughed up for wearing a Jets jersey when NY visiting the Browns ;)

and ryanlaughlin, may I interest you in one of these two fashionable shirt designs for your visiting Cleveland?

and I heard that officials at the Q will be forcing you to remove your offensive LBJ shirt for that of a generic Wine and Gold official Cavs shirt. so you might as well wear one of the above and get a free t-shirt in the ordeal ;)

well he'll be there sporting his LBJ jersey again

that kid's an asshole. Nevertheless I'd be impressed if he wore this:

axl, do you have a link to that twitter?

here is the Twitter account in question

LBJ's Cleveland homecoming has provided for some hilarious internet substance the past couple weeks

WTf they barely even booed Lebron? I feel cheated I expected some real malice after all this hype. haha ok now there chanting asshole thats funny.

^ May have sounded that way on TV, but I assure you... in person... the crowd was LOUD! They were booing... and most of the time, TNT probably quieted the microphone to drown out chants of "ASSHOLE! ASSHOLE! ASSHOLE!" "FUCK YOU LEBRON!" and "DE-LON-TE!" etc. The crowd was there in full force. Then the Heat stole the show and the crowd got a bit lax, yet still booed every time LBJ touched the ball... by the 4th quarter, when all was lost... shit just turned into a fucking MADHOUSE! People were gettin thrown out everywhere you looked.

It was absolutely insane! Your TV set can't properly convey the emotion that was surging through the arena. And the speakers in your house DEFINITELY didn't do the noise in the stadium justice. It was loud as fuck through the entire duration of the game... even the lackluster 2nd and 3rd quarter. The 4th was just a party. Yeah we got blown out, but guess what... we had a good time!
