Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

hey james!!!! ^ I will read this post a little late when I have more time....

but for now 1mg is treating me very well....super stoked...

goodbye skag. you can email me if you want. i might figure out how to use email on my phone, but I wont be able to sit up in a chair on BL anymore.

I can't very well snort them at work (that would be hilarious....

Slightly OT, but I went through four years at my last job snorting sub every day, usually trice.

How (I'll explain this in the interest of helping people who need to take their meds at work without getting sacked)? I went to a head shop and got one of those little metal pill vials that attach to your key ring. They have a 'lid' that the rest of the vial screws into but when attached, it just looks like some random thing that anyone would have on their key chain (particularly if you already have a lot of keys / misc. crap on your chain already).

To dose, just drop whatever quantity you want to take in the container and crush it up. I had a cut off straw that would just poke out the top of the vial but still fit when it was attached to the lid. I could go to the bathroom, take the dose and be out with 1 minute.

@ James Brown: at this point, would it be worth just scoring some heroin or pain meds off the street? I know that's a step-backward after getting clean but if it will give you relief from what sounds like a truly miserable existence, maybe it's the lesser of two evils? Either way, fuck those assholes who refused to help you and I really hope you come through OK. Good luck.

well i keep fucking up. partially im now just pissed that insurance isn't covering my suboxone, and partially because I just keep getting that junky itch. I feel STUPID saying again that spent another week binge on heroin, this time close to two books a day, and am now on suboxone again, since monday, so about four days. I've been mostly shooting or plugging my suboxone. I don't really feel it's effects that much, other than it helped with the withdrawal for the first few days, though I tell you people, switching back and forth is not good.

I used to come off full agonists right on to suboxone, and feel straight as an arrow, no sickness at all, even a little buzz(little being the key word here.) Now when I swith back, I feel off for the first two days. I don't have trouble sleeping (then again I take like 4mg of xanax and about 1-1 1/2 mg of klonopin a day), but I still feel anxiety if i dont take enogh, and experience strange skin sensations, hot and cold flashes. I'm still to this day having diarhea, not constantly, but more than I'd like.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and buy a large dose of methadone, and try and taper slowly with that. I know it sounds crazy, everyone always says methadone is so much worse, and in some ways it is, but in my experience with trying to kick suboxone, and actually kicking methadone, methadone was a bit easier, though that could be because it was in a controlled enviroment. however, my fear of prec withdrawals especially when it comes to methadone, might create a similair enviroment. That and the fact that I really do not like the "high" methadone gives, so I wont feel tempted to just rock out with it.

for the past four days I've been taking about 8 mg of suboxone a day. can anyone give me a good estimate one what dose would be the best to start off the meth with ? This will be the liquid stuff, 10 mg/ml, so it will be easy to measure out.

Please don't flame me if you think this idea is stupid. I want to try it out as I'm feeling absolutely hopeless, and I don't want to be on suboxone anymore. I'm not sure if I'm ready to quit my addiction to opiates in the long run, but I want to end my suboxon/dope habit, and I want to give this a shot.
I hear suboxone's peak opioid activity is equivilant to about 30 mg of methadone, so would that be a good dose? or should I aim higher, and try to tightrate down by ten mg every day or so. (I'm hoping on scoring about 130 mg of the cherry.)

so 1 mg seems to be holding me very well.... i will be dosing for my third day tomo in ten hours...

UPDATE...i apologize if this is not cool, just thought people should no....

been talking to JAMESBROWNS sister, and hes not doing well....at all.....
he just got some pain meds....but hes lost alot of weight
hes not getting treatment (nor can he atm)
and hes not getting better, his sister is worried for his life...

All the doctors I have had throughout this entire experience.....not one of them knew what bupernorphine was. I actually had to teach them and they actually told me that im lying and made it up. ????

Wow, it's shameful they don't know what buprenorphine is, but for them to think you are intelligent enough to make all of this up, now that's something. :\

I guess they must think very highly of your intellect to think that you're able to create such a fabrication of reality, even tough it's ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that you're not making anything up!!! :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your condition James, even though we're both not sure what it is exactly.

I just hope that a doctor is willing to at least help you out, in any way, so that you don't have to die. I wish you the best of luck in finding a rational doctor.

My only advice to you is to go to a new doctor in a different state, and not mention anything about opiates/opiate addiction. I'm not sure if your state has a state-wide database like mine does, but that's the only reason why I was suggesting you go out of state, if you're lucky and your state doesn't have this, then just go to a different hospital and don't tell them about your past.

I don't think your idea is stupid ZNeg, I understand what you mean.

Some people don't fare well on Suboxone when compared to methadone. Maybe methadone will really help you taper off.

If you still crave heroin from time to time, why do you think that is? If you can pinpoint why you have cravings, maybe you can work on such an issue with a different approach (other than using H).

I have no idea about dosing methadone though, good luck. Other people should have some good advice about dosing.

If you are still in touch with his sister, pass on my wishes. You can say from "the captain" so it's not sketchy or anything.

I hope he gets treatment soon, though I'm not sure what that would be.

Quick question regarding precip. w/d and codeine. I'm on a very low dose of suboxone, ~1.5mg / day. I had an abscess and went to the dentist yesterday and took like 450 mg of codeine for the pain. This was about ~25 hrs ago. I'm pretty sure I am starting w/d but I just wanted to make sure that waiting about 24 hrs after taking codeine sounds about right?

It does sound about right to me.

Hey skag i just read that post about jamesbrown. If you can let him know tell him that he has some prayers going out for him. I'd recommend others do the same and keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I wouldn't wish that type of hell upon anybody and really hopes he has a nice speedy recovery.

If someone has the means too, they should def consider switching Dr's if they have a reason. I've never tried to switch my Dr, because I don't have a good enough reason, sure I'd like more subs and have him not be psycho, but it's nothing serious. Although if it was there's a ton of Dr's I could go too, and most would love to take your money and not someone else

I haven't been on BL for a short while and I see that we have practically doubled our sub megathread and we have taken on some new members since I was last here.
...

Drug addicts, and ex drug addicts are people too, and they are good people, and nice people, and intelligent people, just like everyone else.

Dude you need to find a better pain management doctor, it's as simple as that. A doctor that specializes in pain management and addiction. I found a doctor, he worked with me to find a non-narcotic combination that worked (buprenorphine, ultram, lyrica, injections). He was very clear that, before he went to narcotics, we'd try every combination of everything available to try and treat the pain. I guess the difference is that my pain is documented, something you need to do. You need to suck it up and deal with the pain until you and your doctor figure out what's wrong, something I had to do for a long time before I could get treated.

One option is to tell your bupe doc that it's not holding you anymore and to increase the dose, for me Subutex has been a godsend and helps so much with pain (although I'm on a very low dose now). At the very least, you can increase your bupe dose which should help a hell of a lot with your pain.

I don't even know what to say jamesBrown.

I guess the most pressing thing is to force yourself to eat and drink water to keep up body weight. Then, find out what is causing this. If you are, do not go in and immediately ask for pain medication. Shout: what is wrong with me?? Why aren't they doing blood tests, CT scans, etc?? That's my question. Doctors are problem solvers. Even if they're denying you pain medication, they should still be trying to figure out the source of the pain and treat that. No history of pain, then this?? What??

I took my last .25mg exactly 12 hours ago. Although I'm feeling some stomach discomfort and increase in my normal back pain, I don't feel half bad. I expected the withdrawal to be a lot worse at this point, as I tapered rather quickly. Will keep you kids updated on how bad it gets, if it does get worse... for science!

Good luck. I'm interested to hear how this goes for you.

What im wondering JB is that you stopped taking your bupe because you wanted to see how long you could go without it to prove something.. why don't you start taking it again to help with the pain? also is it just coincidence that the pain started once you were off the bupe?
What im getting at is if they wont give you full agonist pain meds like you want.. deal with it with what you have (bupe).. tis better than nothing IMO.
I have had major back pain since i was 14 and no one ever gave me pain meds (hence why i became addicted to them on the street) and when i tried to get help i went on methadone for my addiction but it helped A LOT with my back pain, then i switched to bupe and the pain has slowly been coming back, i have 2 mri's a bone scan and x rays all saying my back it fucked up and i still only get suboxone, tramadol, muscle relaxers galore, and benzo's..it works as an alternative to full agonists. Maybe that will help you as well.. all of those a pretty easy to get either off the street or scripted. Goodluck with everything. 8(

I have a feeling you will be fine as long as you get nutrition into you somehow and find a way to cope with the pain either with or without medicine. %)

I think he got on pain meds already. Coming off of buprenorphine may suck but I don't think it's what's causing that level of pain.

Also, coming off of buprenorphine by itself shouldn't cause him to lose 1 lb/day either.
