ahh so you evap HOW MUCH Naptha/?! :\

I just tried my first vacuum filtration and in some ways it was a big succes...especially considering all I used was a cut off water bottle, a coffee filter, and a vacuum cleaner - VERY QUICK.

Only problem was I used ONE coffee filter, and it ripped - sending about half a gram of spice UP my hoover.

Lesson learned - use 2 filters

But I know it's really simple...SO I can see things going very well from now on - very fast drying of the spice, no fucking about waiting days for it to dry, so then I can recrystallize it much quicker too. MMMMMMM LOVE IT. Still got maybe quarter of a gram I'm drying, maybe more, so it's not a complete bust - it's only drugs. =D

No I remove all the Naptha from the tray(after its preciped in the freezer) with a metal baster(so the Naptha just goes back into its containers). Then place the DMT crystals in my Buncher filter and wash with sodium carbonate. I doubt I even need to do this but I enjoy it. I then chop up the DMT and spread it out on another dish. Its fully dry in 2 or 3 hours.
 
^I use a well rinsed 4 pint plastic milk container for a 100g MHRB extraction, look for the hdpe 2 symbol and only use once.
Also ronsonol lighter fluid is what i use it's recomended on the dmt nexus for uk people and you can get it in tescos and most corner shops.

Never tried zippo so cant comment.
I use half the ronsonol for the first pull 120ml i think, I never evaporate it just pull the naptha into a shot glass cover the top with clingfilm and stick it in the freezer.
Easier if i just link you to the guide i used the first time. Got pics so helped me alot.

EDIT- Just looked at that guide again, don't bother heating the naptha it isn't needed and pulls more plant fats oils.

Long Time Lurker, have been following this thread for a while. Recently decided to try an STB MHRB extraction. However I have encountered a problem and I think my work is failed and was looking for input as to why.

I attempted to extract 250g of pre powdered bark. I followed Nomans Tek. First I pre mixed 2,000ish ml water + 350gs sodium hydroxide. During this time I shook the 3.7 liter jar I was using until the solution was grey/black and all the NAOH was dissolved. I then added 250g MHRB and shook vigourosly over the course of 5 in. I then let this sit for an hour. After the hour I added 150 ml of charcoal lighter fluid (brand frontier). <I believe this may be where I messed up. At the hardware store I was unable to find vm&p naphtha so I instead settled for the frontier charcoal lighter fluid brand, i read the lable and it read "contains petroleum distillates, is this naphtha.> I let the lighter fluid gently roll around the jar by tilting it end over end. I repeated this agitation 3 more times before I pulled the layer of lighter fluid and put it into a jar. I did 3 more pulls at 100-150ml and each time agitated the lighter fluid 3 times before pulling it into the jar. I didnt let each pull sit in there very long 10 minutes about. Should they have stayed longer? I am now aware I used way too much lighter fluid as I had to evaporate it down.

Well now to my problem, After multiple attempts at freeze precipitating my lighter fluid no crystals would form. After evaping the solvent down multiple times I still didnt see crystals, the solvent would get very cloudy, but even after evaping down to 30-50 ml, STILL NO CRYSTALS, just foggy solvent. also it was tinted a yellowish color. Frustrated I evaped down ALL the solvent and I now see a golden sludge. It has no odor of dmt, it doesnt taste like dmt, I am unfortanatley thinking this is residue left behind by the solvent.

So my question is, what did I do wrong? could I have used to little water to begin with, non-naphtha containing lighter fluid? any input would be greatly appreciated.

After using a buchner filter isn't it properly dry?!?! Surely if you use it for a bit longer it will be dry?? I only had to use my DIY apparatus for about 10 mins max, and it was all nice and dry - enough to smoke.

Zippo lighter fuel is fine...but heavy petroleum distillates pull the DMT better from NaCO solution...lighter petroleum distillates are better for freeze precip and recrystallization.

But I'm sure if you did a few more pulls that would work just as well maybe??

Blow on the surface of the solution - if it swirls and clouds up, like dancing ghosts it's saturated enough to just bung in the freezer.

But evapping a bit can't hurt even if at this stage - just makes it more saturated.

Don't evap the whole jar - this naptha can be re-used!! (economy, people!!! ;) ) - many times...

Filter it without a doubt. much easier to dry as well, and also better to leave behind plant oils and fats stuck to the jar.

Coffee filters are not the best choice. Look online for something called "Grade 1 Filter Papers". They have a much higher loading capacity and retain a greater amount of strength when wet than coffee filters do. :)
 
Yeah, I realized it was not the most ingenious piece of equipment I've ever used BUT I think if I just use like 3 than it's OK until I can afford to get better equipment :)

I did realize my mistake don't worry. haha.

No, but I do multiple 200 g extracts at once then put all the pulls in one dish. So when i'm filtering and drying there could be an upwards of 5 grams of DMT in there which takes a while to dry out completely. You could smoke it right away but I let it dry so I know exactly what I got out of my extract.
 
Aha OK - fair doos.

Multiple extracts at the same time...legend...never thought of doing a few at the same time. THat reminds me though I need to finish one of mine...I always drag them out so long - no commitment lol.

I just extract like 500gs of material at once(well a couple with all washes combined). Its a different way of being lazy, because this way I just do one large extract instead of multiple small ones. Plus its pretty cool to see a dish like a I posted on the other page absolutely drenched with DMT crystals. Beautiful.
 
fuck, i forgot to buy a gallon jar. i have gallon containers etc, but you cant put lids on them
 
No need for lids really, just stir it with a big spoon to irritate it instead of shaking it.. works just as good

Thanks mrTIHKAL, You were right definatley the wrong solvent

Just finished a 100g extraction with the correct naphtha, yields a little low, 300 mgs ish. But after having followed the procedure exactly 2 times with good vm&p naphtha one extraction 500 mgs thew other 300. I am assuming this means weak bark?

Anyways just broke through on these potent white crystals. Pure love. Such a wonderful molecule
 
Congratulations on your first successful extraction did you use new bark or the same stuff from the botched attempt?
300 mg is a low yield, I would expect around a gram from 100g mhrb
Maybe the other solvent did pull some spice but just wasn't any good for freeze precipitation.
If you used a new batch of bark link me to the tek you used and I may be able to help you squeeze a bit more out of the mix if you still have it around.

I used the TEK you posted with the HDPE 2 milk jug. I have done 2 fresh extractions since the botched attempt both on 100g of fresh new bark. Each of these last attempts yeilded 300-500 mgs pure white crystal. I followed the TEK you posted exactly. I still have the milk jug containing the basified MHRB after having done 4 pulls all 75 ml, then combined in a pyrex tray and evaporated down to 50 ml total. when put in the freezer this yeilded 300ish mgs.
