this thread makes me bulk jealous...

my favourite show was The Getaway Plan, i seen them twice, and they were utterly amazing both times... anyone who likes alternative rock, really nice singing, unique voice, great screaming, will like these guys. too bad they broke up.

frenzal rhomb, australian punk band... music sucks but they are pure crack ups, i'd pay money to see them again just to have a laugh, funny guys.

mammal, music sucks, but sooooo much energy live, i had a fucking ball and didn't even know any of their songs!

live shows aren't really about the music (for me), it's more about the performance imo.

Daft Punk. that shit was outrageous haha

As far as a 'live' band goes, Soulwax were amazing

definitly NIN, I have seen them 4 times and just gets better
TOOL- what can i say mind blowing ( was tripping for this)
The Doors (when Jim could actually finsh a set would 've been awseome 2c)

Everlast 2008 in birmingham there where like maybe 20 people at the show they still brought the house down. It was great whitey Ford kept saying "its all about quality not quantity"

I dont remember the names of some of the best shows I have been to where the audience was whipped to a mindless frenzy. I have happened to see blackdice quite a few times, and they often have interesting concerts, at times the opening band have been better than black dice. Ariel pink at a bar recently has been some of the best music I have been lucky enough to catch early. Sigur Ros did a good concert / video show back in the time of their () album.

Best live bands I've seen: Team Dresch, Guided by Voices, Les Savy Fav. All put on a great show.

the flaming lips!!!

edit: went back through thread and wanted to quote this:
The Flaming Lips. Easily. Part of it is the massive amount of production that they put into their shows, and all the props they use, and the costumed dancers, and the visual presentation of it all, and the confetti cannons, etc., etc., etc. But part of it is just that Wayne Coyne has the most sincerely good-natured, generous, good-willed stage presence I've ever seen in a performer. He genuinely wants everyone at his show to make friends with each other. It's amazing.

Or maybe it's just that I was rolling really hard when I saw them. Either way, best show I've ever been to.

Yes! There is just so much good will and positive energy flowing around at there shows, with Wayne kind of conducting it. My favorite time seeing them was New Years 08-09 in Oklahoma. Such a mixed crowd.. high school raver kids, old hippies, midwestern fratboys, nerdy indie rock kids, but everyone was just dancing all smiling and chatting having a great time.. and I've always been rolling really hard when I saw them :D

edit again: A close second would be seeing the Arcade Fire open for the Unicorns in a tiny church basement with ~100 people
