The DMT discussion thread

You have a wide range to choose from. Obtusifolia or longifolia are safe bets. Alkaloid contents vary substantially between trees, even at different times of the year.

If you can get a seedling (I have seen these from time to time) Acacia phlebophylla

Phlebophylla is extremely rare and only known from the high altitude granite slopes of Mount Buffalo National Park, Victoria, Australia. I have heard excellent reports from people propagating this species in Melbourne. Leave it's natural habitat alone, fires have nearly wiped this species out recently...

so heres a question i havnt been able to find out a stubstantial answer too on bluelight or the web. plus your opinion on the whole situation would be appreciated :)

would there be any possible negative interactions, combining a benzo, such as xanax, or valium, at a lowish dose, say 5mg valium or .5mg of xanax, before smoking a mild changa mix (caapi)? or a dmt joint? to ease my self into the experience

I previously had a traumtic experience on lsd + hash a couple of years ago which triggered a full blown panic attack lasting the remainder of the trip (6hrs). This experience led to an pstd like panic attack session for a couple of months and now a more pronounced generalised anxiety. My brian associated taking any drug to the returning of that horrible panic attack episode. And also has made me stear clear of weed fullstop after having a healthy habit beforehand.

since then i have been able to wease my self back, into comfortably taking amphetamines, mdma, nitrous, k, and ghb, but havnt ventured back into the world of psychedlic trytamines mainly due to the fear of a repeat performance.

i feel the short duration of dmt could be a perfect stepping stone, and perceptions altering gateway, into the world of psychedlics i feel i never got to completely explore.

I find that benzos would act against the DMT in a negative way. Same as taking benzos whilst trippin. If u get very bad anxiety on the comeup on psychs like alot of us do then forget DMT until u are well prepared. Not sure if u have ever done DMT but i find the anxiety to be 10 times worse than say on shrooms or acid. I have a friend who always does acid n shrooms and did DMT and it put him off totally. Save the benzos for a panic attack after u have taken psychs just in case. DMT is sum strong shit man so be careful with it. Wish u all the best.

Is it appropriate to ask for the method of extraction/ preparation from wattle roots, or is that too explicit for this forum ?.

I would warn against the use of tryptamine psychedelic's if you are suffering from anxiety and panic attacks.

Taking DMT or any other tryptamine with the mindset of 'I may need a benzo in case I suffer a panic attach' is very dangerous and could take a serious toll on your already unstable mental state. With or without the benzo, DMT will be an extremely powerful/life changing experience. I doubt a low dose of any benzo is a safe buffer against anxiety when you are coming up so fast.

The use of these substances with an experienced shaman can be helpful in the treatment of panic attacks and anxiety, but using these outside of an experienced shamans guidance could lead to more problems for you in future. It just isn't worth the risk

This is a timely reminder that using cannabis on psychedelics can trigger very bad trips and this can lead to problems even after the trip has ended.

Be very careful when it comes to taking cannabis with strong psychedelics. Even if you have a large tolerance (smoke cones all day etc.) it can and will end badly from time to time.

While a lot of us smoke cannabis throughout our psychedelic experiences, sometimes it only takes a toke of a joint to be thrown into the depths of a severe paranoid state.

Trip safe and live healthy

Hey interesting article up on Entheogenesis website on DMT use in Australia. Some people here may have participated in the survey last year leading to this paper.

Re queries on IV administration: a well extracted dose of DMT is unlikely to carry any plant matter in it, which is a typical source of infection (for example in poorly extacted heroin from opium resin). That said - if you want to inject, I would recommend getting your hands on a 0.22 micron pill filter (available from any good NSP!). This will remove any bacterial or fungal contamination. This is assuming that the DMT is in salt form and dissolves easily in water. If it's a base and forms an emulsion on mixing with water (and I'm not across the standard extraction techniques to know) then you will probably lose some of your dose into the filter membrane (which I guess you could always break out, dry and smoke...).

Interesting the linked paper above mentions DMT smoke as unpleasant for many users. I certainly didn't think so on the occasions I smoked DMT - if anything the smell is quite unique and I would keep smelling it at later occasions in random circumstances and have a little smile.

obtusi in newy

hey lewk how you goin mte ,just wondering if you ctracked down any obtusi round newi all i can fingd is longi thats actualy in flower now.??

i wonder how dmt compares to salvia?

It all depends on what you enjoy.

Most people rate DMT above sally, but certain people dislike DMT and rate sally well above it.

I don't enjoy salvia one bit and I think it lacks a lot in comparison to DMT.

I don't mind making changa using salvia leaf. This is an amazing experience, but salvia on it's own just doesn't give the bliss which I get from DMT.

You just don't know until you have tried both. I have friends who absolutely love 80x salvia and can't stand DMT 8o

Try both and you will soon figure out what you personally enjoy.

I posted some of this elsewhere...but I think you guys seem a more sober audience for a couple of long winded questions about DMT. I think the thread I originally posted to was long dead. Anyways...
1. Is DMT able to “unlock” access to aspects of reality otherwise not accessable? If so, does this “unlocking” have risks? I saw some mathematician interviewed whose a bit of a regular campaigner by the sounds of it and he used the word "unlock" and thought that was pretty interesting. http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=AYDgmpiE-U0
2. Is DMT useful in helping one gain insight into aspects of reality which *are* accessable by “normal” means? That is, can DMT help you to understand things about science, maths, physics that you might have been having difficulty with? (For me, solving certain prickly differential equations comes to mind!) I know the claims about metaphysical things and big questions about the nature of existence and the self similar to what people report when they've had lsd or shrooms or just enough pot and pills...I'm not asking about whether DMT can help reveal some deep truths about reality in general (I think my first question is getting at that) - rather, can DMT help a person (say a physics student) who's got a problem s/he needs to solve and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere...say trying to understand certain differential equations or whatever? Or could it help a scientist solve a scientific problem that otherwise isn't responding to the usual techniques? Thoughts?
DMT is a bit of an enigma to me despite my familiarity with other things because, where I live, it just doesn't seem to be popular. I'm guessing that's because the "market" is saturated with other stuff that people are less cautious about.

Thanks for any insight people!

1. Is DMT able to “unlock” access to aspects of reality otherwise not accessable? If so, does this “unlocking” have risks?

Yes and yes.

DMT can and will unlock aspects of reality that are only accessible to those on strong psychedelics or in deep states of meditation. There are definitely risks involved with the use of this substance, mostly mental.

If you have a history/family history of mental illness, DMT could trigger psychosis.

There is also the possibility of having an extremely bad and confronting experience and then suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. This is the most common side effect that I have noted. Usually when some asshole gives this drug to a complete novice and dose not explain it's effects before, during and after.

Some trips can be very hard to integrate after the experience and when you have traveled deeply into this state, you risk questioning your normal reality and everything in it.

2. Is DMT useful in helping one gain insight into aspects of reality which *are* accessable by “normal” means? That is, can DMT help you to understand things about science, maths, physics that you might have been having difficulty with?

Yes

I know many scientists, mathematicians and physicists that have gained much from the DMT experience. It can help you to understand and grasp all sorts of concepts. Same goes for the use of other psychs, especially LSD.

It may also do very little for you in this respect. What you gain will depend on how you personally download and integrate the experience.

Sourcing substances is all about who and what you know.

DMT is not a drug for dancing under pretty lights or hiding from ones problems. It can't exactly be classed as a pleasurable experience. It is a mind tool, a sacrament of sorts. For this reason, you will not find it in clubs or on the street. For the most part, this substance will not be advertised.

This substance has an affinity with the counter culture and those who wish to explore the deepest depths of consciousness.
...................................................................
If used correctly, the insights that can be gained from DMT are far beyond those of most psychedelics.

If you wish to get an insight into it's effects I recommend trying psilocybin mushrooms. They are in the same drug class as DMT, the tryptamine psychedelics.

DMT - N,N-dimethyltryptamine

Psilocybin - 4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (it is converted by the liver to psilocin aka 4-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine via a process known as Dephosphorylation)

Both DMT and psilocybin have an amazing ability to put the user in contact with entities and they give an experience that is unmatched by other psychedelic substances.

I highly recommend trying mushrooms first to get an idea of what to expect from DMT.

DMT takes you from baseline to the most extreme psychedelic state known to man in a matter of seconds. With no tryptamine psychedelic experience, you will be so astonished by it's effects that you will gain very little from the experience.

I highly recommend reading Terrence McKenna's writings and checking out his DMT youtube videos. This will help you to train the mind for this state of consciousness.

This drug will certainly open up thought pathways that will help you to understand physics from a whole new perspective.

DMT is not for everyone and you should research all of it's effects (good and bad) before deciding that this is the right drug for you.

Stay safe

Thanks for the thread, some really great information!

Is there much circulation of DMT in Melbourne? I've always been really interested in it, but have always been under the thought that it's extremely difficult to come by.

(Note: feel free to delete this if it comes across as too close to attempting to procure, although am not)!
