There are a lot of cunts in the police, any job with a degree of power is bound to attract a higher proportion of idiots. But there are plenty of nice ones too and as others have said a lot of the faults are to do with the organisation as a whole rather than individuals. And the police are a lot worse in many other (often as rich and well developed) countries!

Go and live in practically any country in the world and see how their police operate and deal with you.

While I agree with this statement completely, the UK police force still operates a 'look after your own' policy whenever anything untoward happens which makes it so hard for injustices to be resolved properly.

I've had more dealings of the kind nobody wants with the police than I can count and there's definitely plenty of pricks in blue. There's plenty who signed up for "the right" reasons too and always treated me with decency and respect - despite the fact they were arresting me for dealing crack and heroin on a regular basis. If anything, most local coppers that I came into contact with would try to offer help (as they saw it) as far as recommending treatment programmes, warning about anything seriously dodgy going around - even the odd heads up when one of the dealers that weren't on their shit list was about to be busted once or twice. If you behave like a rabid police-hating psycho they treat you as such. If you take a more reasonable approach they mostly treat you the same way, in my experience. I'm no police fan but some form of policing is necessary and shooting random coppers is just fuckin' low same as shooting any other randoms is. Would you repeat what you said to his grieving family in person?
Those cunts who come through the door armed to the teeth and done up in riot gear gear are another matter entirely. They really are nasty bastards

So a lot of you hate police because you've had bad experiences... ever think of it the other way round? A particular cop may have arrested a junkie or dealer who has done really fucked up shit -- and then painted all drug users with the same brush and decided they're all scum and unworthy of any consideration.
I can understand the people who think cops deserve to be hurt, though I don't agree - I'm in the "cops are people" camp. But I think it's really screwed up to laugh or smile about it!! If he shot a child molester... I'd think "good, some sort of twisted justice" but I wouldn't be amused.

Exactly what I said earlier in the thread. Maybe cops are fed up of dealing with junkies who rob old grannies of their pension and the just tar all drug users with the same brush just as so many people on here have done with cops.
The policeman is there to enforce a law, their personal opinions on lifestyle choices shouldn't really come in to it.
Of course they are people, but people who have chose to be part of an organisation that oppresses people for their personal choices, you have missed the point here.
