i've had mostly negative dealings with the police, like the time when they smashed my front door down and put me and my wife in the cells for growing a couple of plants. They also stole things from my house that were not recorded on any of their paper work, they also watched porn and left the DVD in the player in my lounge, yeah top job there boys that is showing plenty of respect. in fact reminding myself of this incident i hope he manages to bag a few more coppers. if i see him about i'll buy him a sandwich.

That's not pleasant, but it's more indicative of a person who's a scumbag rather than an entire profession.

Deploring the police because of one persons action is the same as decrying our entire armed forces because a couple of them raped a woman whilst on duty in Afganistan.

Scallywags since they're a bit dumb are increasingly being sold converted alarm pistols/revolvers which blow up after three shots but it's the first two still capable of killing hence they banned this red thing

watsons torment's experience was a group of police rather than a single officer and the incident wasn't isolated or uncommon. the profession itself attracts nobheads by its very nature. this is not to say that all police are bad, but as a drug user and believer in personal freedoms i do not agree with their profession in its current form.

Currently i dont have alot of respect for the way the irish police are doig their job after seein my 15 year old brothers injuries after him being assaulted in police custody by the same cop who used to routinely harrass me when i was younger!

I have not once experienced a decent police officer.

I'v been assaulted by 2 police officers, i recieved a broken wrist in the process, and i was blackmailed so i couldnt press charges...

the reason there are no "good" police is this: by allowing one of your own to get away with a deplorable act, you become just as tainted.

a good cop is one who will act against bad cops.

It's not "one person" is it. When you look at the Ian Tomlinson assault there were a dozen cops all stood watching that cop attack a totally innocent old bloke from behind. None of them raised a finger. Then they spread lies saying "We never touched him" and "The protestors were throwing bricks at us when we tried to help him". The guy who killed Tomlinson had to come forward or they would never have known who the bastard was. Not a single police officer was prepared to name him. Incredible.

There's a definate culture in the police of "Policemen come first and the proles come nowhere"

Well, perhaps you could argue taking out the cop was payback in kind for Ian Tomlinson - who was killed, lied about and then his family ignored for 12 months plus.

I think Mugabe summed up my views pretty well when he said;

Real change and improvement will come from action against the organisation, ideally legal action (a repeal of the sillier drug laws etc.) not from shooting a few individual police officers who sods law dictates will be of the rare and kind variety who help catch thieves who mug old ladies.

Picking up a gun and shooting a few of them isn't going to help the 'us vs them' or "Policemen come first and the proles come nowhere" attitude that causes so many problems in the first place.

I don't think anyone is saying it will help the "us vs them" atitude. But after seeing Tomlinson killed, De Menezes killed and that 17 stone riot cop who got cleared after assaulting a woman half his size with a truncheon walking out of court with a smirk on his face, I think it's all that people can expect.

I think it's the kind of argument he would make, i'm not saying he would use that specific example. It's a general point about revenge and taking one life in payment for another that i assume anyone who picks up a gun and goes on a revenge killing spree has probably thought through.
