I hadn't even heard of Nis until the morning I boarded the train for it, just thought 'need to get out of this dump Belgrade' pulled up google maps and saw that Nis seemed like a fairly big city and wasn't too far away. Off to the train station.
Me: "I want to go to Nis please".
Trainstation bloke: "where?".
Me: "Nis"
Him: "What is Nis"
Me: "Nis, the city Nis. N-I-S. Nis"
Him: "Oh you mean Niche, it's really very easy to pronounce"
Me: "Aye dead easy, that'll be the one Nis".
Off I went and when I got there I actually considered getting right back on that train (heading for Istanbul it was) because when you first get off that train it looks like a rundown ghost town. Walked to what I thought was the main street, all the shops were closed and I thought fucking hell there's nothing here. Eventually realised the train centre is a fucking trek from the city centre when I spotted a hotel and a Maccy Dee's and discovered the real centre. Then I started to like it.
Anyway what the fuck am I doing derailing this thread. Tempted to go to a Euro festy myself, looked as Sizget in Hungary but not many bands I like on the lineup, there's some wee reggae n shit festival in Croatia that's sposed to be cool. Twice in the past couple weeks I've seen a program on the Snowbombing festival in the mountains of Austria, looks fucking wild, snowboarding and skiing during the day, street parties, top bands and DJs, forest parties, igloo parties at the top of mountains, fancy dress, people rallying from the UK to the festival in old clapped out motors. Sounds wicked.
