Trippy Videos and Movies (Psych Media Subthread)

f&b is a well-known mod who has a penchant for Hawkwind. More specifically, a certain lady Hawkwinder. More specific stil,l two of her finer assets ;)

One of the multitudes of ex-Hawkwinders owns the local studio here. And I've lived on the same street as two others. Throw a stone in the UK and you'll hit an ex-Hawkwind member :D

Now that is sooo gooooovy!!
Nice to meet you S!!Always nice to meet Hawkfans!!! The most spaced out grup of people I know!!
Are you going to the Hawkfest This coming August? If so we should get together!!

I'd love to get to the Hawkfest but must admit I rarely make it to any summer events. I'm probably the only BL poster who's never been to a proper summer festival and has only ever been to a handful of music gigs. I'm just all wrong inside 8o

But I'm really hoping to remedy that this year and make it to at least one or two summer events. Maybe Hawkfest will be amongst them. Who knows? Not I. Any event you happen to be at, just look for the fella with long hair tripping his nuts off. That'll be me for sure ;)

PS: Even groovier than ex-Hawkwind members is that Robert Plant shops at my local Co-Op cos he has a house near here. He buys organic.

/lame to fame

Damn it Shambles!!
Is your local studio called "Planet Rock"
I'll remind you closer to the Hawkfest day in August!!
If you see a head with short hair sticking out of a nettle bush at the far end of the site, with a bunch on mushrooms growing out of it ears. That will be my head!!!
Now we'll recognize eachother!!

:-)(-:

It'll be awhile before most of us can see it (at least legally), but I figured I should post about Enter the Void here for those who don't frequent F&T. Apparently the film begins with a POV shot of a young man smoking DMT, and employs numerous new camera and special effects techniques that sound like they'll make it perfect for enhanced viewing. The director, Gaspar Noé, has said in interviews that he spent a lot of time experimenting with psychedelics and has always wondered why no one makes films that show the kinds of things he sees while tripping, so he decided to make one.

I saw the trailer for this, and I am pumped. Do you have any idea as to the release date? I saw Inland Empire after reading your description of it, and all I can say is wow, I have never seen such a bizarre film

I don't know if they've been mentioned but:

Mutant Aliens
Egon & Donci (sp?)

Both animated, the first is really insane and funny. The second is more gentle (g-rated), but still trippy.

I also thought Kung Pow: Enter the Fist was insanely trippy when I saw it on shrooms, as was Moulin Rouge.

I don't think there is an official release date yet. It still has awhile to go on the festival circuit. The Facebook page mentions a US release in September (probably limited release).

I'm glad Inland Empire provoked a strong reaction from you. It certainly is bizarre. However, if you search around on the internet you'll find people's interpretations that reveal there's also a fairly intricate plot woven through its spatiotemporal tangles.

This might be just me, but I like to watch planet earth, and Heima, the Sigur Ros Movie. Beautiful things. Also Fear and Loathing is a must, although tripping hard, I could see how it could be incredibly frightening. Dreams by Kurosawa is pretty crazy I think.

Great thread I've since got quite a lot of the stuff mentioned waiting for my next trip.
I can't think of much but:
the mighty boosh
tool music videos
Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime in general)
