Trippy Videos and Movies (Psych Media Subthread)

I saw yesterday Shutter Island on 2C-D twice. Cant believe how the second saw was like a complete different movie.
Both times it was really trippy.
Hope I can catch the feeling of the 1st time when I see it again.

The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of all Time. aka Radiohead TV. super trippy, alot of short videos and other things put together to music and if you like Radiohead its a can't miss. super good. lol.

What hasn't been mentioned...

-AKIRA (coming up and being smacked in the face with it as Tetsuo's intestines fall out in his hallucination; great film with the themes of technology / progress, drugs, government corruption and such)

-Old Shaw Bros. / Golden harvest martial arts flicks

-Slacker

-Scanners, The Brood, etc.

-Tetsuo the Iron Man

-Pulp Fiction is pretty good IMO, the fact that there's the actual story going on but the characters are "acting" their roles.

I'm not too big on watching movies in that state, but there are a few good ones from personal experience.

Personally, I prefer closing my eyes and listening to music whilst tripping, but my favorite movies to play while I'm tripping are the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and Disney's Alice in Wonderland or Fantasia. This Flight of the Conchords video also always makes me laugh, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LLRk3_nogo.

David Attenborough's BBC Planet Earth series has amazing HD footage. I highly recommend "shallow seas" and "seasonal forests".

Yessir, Planet Earth and other HD nature programs like Blue Planet are fantastic, not as fantastic as experiencing nature in the firsthand, but it's certainly wonderful for showing you the beauty of nature you may never be able to witness for yourself. As for Planet Earth, "Ocean Deep," "Jungles," and "Fresh Water" are also quite beautiful.

Im gonna second the 2001 A Space Odyssey mention just because it's arguably one of the best movies ever made.

Rashomon is pretty bad ass if you like old movies

It'll be awhile before most of us can see it (at least legally), but I figured I should post about Enter the Void here for those who don't frequent F&T. Apparently the film begins with a POV shot of a young man smoking DMT, and employs numerous new camera and special effects techniques that sound like they'll make it perfect for enhanced viewing. The director, Gaspar Noé, has said in interviews that he spent a lot of time experimenting with psychedelics and has always wondered why no one makes films that show the kinds of things he sees while tripping, so he decided to make one.

Hands down the most trippy, evil movie is "HEAD"
It was written by Jack Nicholson and stars the Monkees.
I know the movie is rated G but, I have seen people run from the room seriously freaked by it. It's as if, instead of the Monkees following them movie from the start to the end, it's more like while the film is on the reel, they step across the scenes onto the scene below it, then after they've gone done some long winding story, they loop back to some previous scene.

While the film is amusing enough watching other ways, it was written for LSD. There are several sound effects (not like forhorn sound effects but, blurring conversations and tweaking small background sounds) and simple scenes like a door opening that has been extended to take what feels like forever and it builds you into a slightly frantic state. The fact that they are chasing the movie and running from the movie at the same time also heightens that feeling that you GOT TO GO.
All I can say it that, on LSD it is an experience that the only other film and even better than Natural Born Killers on LSD.
here is a trailer;

Well for tripping I always had to put on any "HAWKWIND" music video.
"Specially designed to take people on a trip without having to take acid" quote from lead singer!!
When I started watching them there were a few times I had to stop the video because it just went too far!!!

www.hawkwind.com

go there if you dare!!!

You're not f&b in disguise are you, Caroline?!? We will show these peeps the error of their ways and wean them off the Dead and onto Hawkwind sooner or later :D

Vex: I have Head on video from many years ago so just a case of digging it out really. Or maybe d/l a nice fresh copy. Mmm... copywrite theft <3
