I really respect someone that says what you just said. Instead of saying it won't work and there is only one way you instead say you will research it and come to your own conclusions. Refreshing.
My parents put me on Anti-Depressants starting when I was 10 in 4th grade because according to them I was "obsessed with death and unhappy." Since then I've been on Prozac, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Effexor XR, Abilify, Remeron, Cymbalta, and a few others all before the age of 18. I was also on Ritalin, Focalin, Straterra, Adderall, and Adderall XR for ADD. All the antidepressents did was make me gain weight and feel even worse about myself, and all the ADD meds ever did (until I was a Junior in high school when they started to work for studying and tests) was make me lose weight which made me happier and more confident. Eventually I discovered vicodin, percocet, and ultimately began snorting OxyContin daily which were the only prescription drugs that ever made me happy. In my opinion I was bred by my parents and psychiatrists as an adolescent to think that drugs were the solution to my problems, which I still believe today. I ended up in rehab and fought relentlessly with the AA bookthumpers when they told me my depression was a side-effect of my addiction, when my addiction started over a decade after my depression. Since then I was diagnosed with Opioid Responsive Depression, which explains why none of the anti-depressants ever worked and opiates totally did. I've been on suboxone for nearly two years as an antidepressant and its the only thing that's worked besides OC. I've been interested in naltrexone ever since my psychiatrist told me about it, although I've heard it can be dangerous and 1/100 people will die during the procedure due to inexperienced anesthesiologists as very few high-end clinics will perform the procedure.
I commend you for trying this out and hope that it works...be sure to let me know as I may be interested in trying this out myself one day. Good luck! I'm not religious but I'll pray for the best and hope for it to work out for you.

I've always believed that straight up opiate addicts are a lot different from alcoholics and other drug addicts and there's a lot more treatment options available to us. Maybe Naltrexone will one day prove that.
