Bad trips happen but I don't think acid/other psychedelics inherently produce them - its completely up to the person. If you go into the trip willing to accept the truths it shows you while still remembering it's just a drug and you'll be fine in 8 hours, and you don't fight it but ride it, you won't have a bad trip. It's when someone becomes uncomfortable and fights it/panics/forgets they'll be fine once the drug wears off that the problems start, because this can quickly lead to panic attacks, anxiety, and before you know it you're ripping your mind apart while curled up in a ball thinking youre dying because your heart is going so fast (which is a direct consequence of letting yourself get so worked up in the first place).
Propagandha/misconceptions like that vid and some of the posts in this thread do nothing to prevent bad trips and can actually precipitate them - people will be anxious going into the trip and in the period of ego death (2nd bardo according to Tim Leary's "The Psychedelic Experience - Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead"), when you're shown a whole different view on life and most likely shown the parts of you that are negative, it's quite easy to think "omg I'm having a bad trip, personal hell ahhhhh" which will undoubtedly make the trip worse.
Basically if you know what youre getting into and approach it with a completely open mind, theres no such thing as a "bad trip", just trips that are difficult for your ego as it is blown apart. Which for me is a good trip because you learn the most from them.
