[VIC] Rainbow Serpent Festival 2010 - Jan 25, 2010 - Beaufort REVIEWS!!!!

^ Doooo eeeeet.

Sold my extra ticket. Huzzah for return of $$.

Our campsite has mad stealth plans afoot ;)

Big Kev's got nothing on my level of excitement.

Guys what do you use for shade I have $130 to buy some shade and a tent any ideas

Cheers

Okay, hopefully this make sense.

You need a 3M x 3M Gazebo, even a cheap one you will probably get away with.
Then you need a tarp about 4M x 7M

When assembling the gazebo you need to duct tape all the joints (even more so with cheaper gazebos) to add strength

You need to use all the guide ropes supplied with the gazebo and also additional guide ropes. Do not use any walls provided with the gazebo (if any) as these are generall quite weak and add stress to the gazebo when winds blow even mildly

You need to peg one of the 4M sides to the ground (directly throught the eyelets, no quide ropes). This should be the side you are most likely to get wind from.

the tarp then should go over the top of the gazebo and be also put guide ropes through every eyelet.

You should be able to do that for 130 with a budget gazebo and budget tarp.

Here is a larger example of the technique.

we have seen many gazebos and shelters get blow down at doofs.

Good luck.

YAY RAINBOW!

I'm beginning to morph kinda serpentine-psychedelic... in 7 days the process should be nearing completion. ;)

Excited? Nah. :D

^ 'sif get excited. It's just another weekend ;)

I've spent all morning running about getting camp supplies and stuff to make a costume. Hopefully will have enough time to put it together by thursday.

Too fucking right. Especially with telescopic poles. I have seen so many of those fail in heavy wind and rain I don't know why camping shops don't stock non-telescopic poles. I borrowed a bunch of wooden marquee poles from my Rover crew which have been used and abused for longer than I remember and they're still as good as they were 10 years ago. I've got to get some of them made up for my own kit.

I also made some guy ropes last night and taught myself how to splice rope. I'm quite proud of my efforts and will NEVER BUY POLY ROPE AGAIN. It's too stiff and hard to work with.

Well, it is about this time next week that the Saturday night party will begin and last for about 12 hours, if I can get through that far, some great sounds to be listened to

^^You'll get there baysie, we'll make sure of that!

I vote we take our eskies and other goods down to the D floor and only leave to empty our bladders

There's too much DJ goodness to be walking back to camp for supplies

I'm nearly jumping out of my skin

Just fire twirled on the beach in Qld and met crew going to rainbow

We're in plague proportions and I like it :)

Do you guys take your own portable crapper??

Got Gals going with us and not sure if we should purchase a portable loo...

I ll do my business in the bush but not sure the ladies would be so keen...
