Recommend more good movies per post

I know it was a true story and I'm not reffering to the bits where it would say 'Witness number 6,000,000" etc but the bits where random characters such as Bruce Willis character, the kidnapped boys mum and one of the drug dealers mates were being interviewed by a reporter who was asking what they knew. Like the scene where the mum had turned into a fat depressed mess and was in tears and had said she'd been attempting suicide etc and Bruce was telling the reporter to fuck off he wouldn't tell him where his son was. Was done really badly.

And you don't know who Harry Dean Stanton is?

Not familiar with him at all, however, my point still stands his character was worthless. He contributed NOTHING to the film.

This will improve shortly but cinemas are an arm and a leg nowadays
Hmm time to see how much a monthly cinema pass to cineworld costs... they even show some decent films sometimes.
Of course I may get barred after turning up in a few inadvisable states

haha, exactly. a film doesn't have to be a masterpiece of cinema for me to enjoy it. it's just got to entertain me for an hour & a half. which alpha dog did. i've seen it a couple of times actually

Cineworld is usually really expensive aye, no local indie places? I find they offer the best prices. Certainly round here, you can get a ticket full price for about £5.50 or less if you see the first screening of the day or go mid week plus obviously a better selection of films. With a student card or jobseekers book you get tickets for about £4. Hurt Locker will prob be on at Cineworld anyway and they might actually do cheap tickets during the day, I hate the places so refuse to go.

Aye that's fair enough, I don't expect every film to be a masterpeice either, but I like some sort of substance usually. I've seen alphadog twice too so I can't of disliked it that much but it's certainly not high on my list of favourite films.

Need to sort out a student card again I suppose.
Fucking cineworld only does £162 a year for unlimited, which could be worked out to someones advantage if they saw 4 films a week, and I have met people (all male) just like that.
Got an indy cinema, need a student card, some times are cheaper.....but everything requires such careful planning as films are only usually on for a week max
Or I could save up for an internet connection, laptop and have the world at my feet.

Have you ever been a Jaques Rivette fan? One of my top secret faves is La Belle Noiseuse...which was the first art house film I saw in a cinema....4 hours and I thought it was a work of transcendental genius. Only seen it once since then and was amazed I still didn't get bored once.Got Celine and Julie on my lovefilm list near the top.

I wouldn't visit a film that doesn't let you drink in the screen, why Cineworld / Vue etc don't let you is beyond me!

I have not seen any of his stuff.

They have a french cinema channel on sky now which is tops at £10 a month, and its one of the reasons I havent been to the cinema in ages.
Along with Latin america, France has the only movie industry thats making decent stuff thesedays.

Scarface just been reissued so its doing the rounds all over.
I should watch it again sometime....but its SO 80's that it hurts....even moreso than Back to the Future or Wall Street....

Fucking hell...The Prince Charles is THE BEST CINEMA EVER....but I haven't been there since 1995, and it doesn't seem worth the travel from here.....even if I can get £5 on megabus!
