I know it was a true story and I'm not reffering to the bits where it would say 'Witness number 6,000,000" etc but the bits where random characters such as Bruce Willis character, the kidnapped boys mum and one of the drug dealers mates were being interviewed by a reporter who was asking what they knew. Like the scene where the mum had turned into a fat depressed mess and was in tears and had said she'd been attempting suicide etc and Bruce was telling the reporter to fuck off he wouldn't tell him where his son was. Was done really badly.

And you don't know who Harry Dean Stanton is?

Not familiar with him at all, however, my point still stands his character was worthless. He contributed NOTHING to the film.

i liked alpha dog lol

Never listening to any of your reccomendations again. Hurt Locker must be shite. :p

I would believe this, except some places that matter have given it stupidly good reviews.
Crackhead liked A D cos it had a bunch of wiggers in who were livin the dream, yo;)
Just wish I could download Hurt Locker instead of having to wait 6 months or whatever for the dvd:X

My current funding situation stands at £5 a day to live on:(
This will improve shortly but cinemas are an arm and a leg nowadays:|
Hmm time to see how much a monthly cinema pass to cineworld costs:\... they even show some decent films sometimes.
Of course I may get barred after turning up in a few inadvisable states:)

haha, exactly. a film doesn't have to be a masterpiece of cinema for me to enjoy it. it's just got to entertain me for an hour & a half. which alpha dog did. i've seen it a couple of times actually

Simply brilliant ....

Le Blurb...

"Menage begins as a comedy of sorts, but be warned: it develops into a very dark, very confusing probe into the seamier aspects of Parisian life.

Gerard Depardieu plays a crude but charismatic thief, whose own gayness does not prevent his commiserating with those of the opposite sex. Miou-Miou and Michel Blanc are young, impoverished lovers who fall under Depardieu's influence.

He gains their confidence by introducing them to kinky sex, then sucks them into a vortex of crime. Director Bertrand Blier, who in most of his films has explored the awesome power (rather than pleasure) of sex, nearly outdoes himself in Menage (aka Tenue de Soiree). "

I saw this when I was 16:)
I can't remember it really.
Got Les Valseuses on VHS still though.
Blier aims to offend!
I can't remember if I saw Buffet Froid.
All these films that I would download asap.....or remember to watch one day.

Cineworld is usually really expensive aye, no local indie places? I find they offer the best prices. Certainly round here, you can get a ticket full price for about £5.50 or less if you see the first screening of the day or go mid week plus obviously a better selection of films. With a student card or jobseekers book you get tickets for about £4. Hurt Locker will prob be on at Cineworld anyway and they might actually do cheap tickets during the day, I hate the places so refuse to go.

Aye that's fair enough, I don't expect every film to be a masterpeice either, but I like some sort of substance usually. I've seen alphadog twice too so I can't of disliked it that much but it's certainly not high on my list of favourite films.

Need to sort out a student card again I suppose.
Fucking cineworld only does £162 a year for unlimited, which could be worked out to someones advantage if they saw 4 films a week, and I have met people (all male) just like that.
Got an indy cinema, need a student card, some times are cheaper.....but everything requires such careful planning as films are only usually on for a week max:|
Or I could save up for an internet connection, laptop and have the world at my feet.

Les Valseuses is one of my faves. :D
Blier makes some awesome films.

"Menage" came out on region 1 dvd last month after 15 years of having no dvd release.

Too expensive to see movies thesedays. :|

£10 at Curzon Soho, ( £8 Mondays though)

But at least they have a bar and you can drink some Leffe while you watch the film, as they allow you to drink in the cinema :)

Best cinema in London by miles though, Especially if your a World Cinema nut like me.

I've been reading your recomendations and it would seem that you are someone who actually likes decent films8o
Then again you do read books that are WAY too much for me, so I'd expect you to like intelligent or thought provoking stuff.
Have you ever been a Jaques Rivette fan? One of my top secret faves is La Belle Noiseuse...which was the first art house film I saw in a cinema....4 hours and I thought it was a work of transcendental genius. Only seen it once since then and was amazed I still didn't get bored once.Got Celine and Julie on my lovefilm list near the top.

£162 a year?!? 8o

Seems like a lot of money, even the most dedicated person would struggle to find 4 films worth watching a week at the cinema.

Aye it's the same with one of the indie places here, in fact some films are shown just once on a random day of the week and never again. Makes for a large selection of films on offer though.

But at least they have a bar and you can drink some Leffe while you watch the film, as they allow you to drink in the cinema

I wouldn't visit a film that doesn't let you drink in the screen, why Cineworld / Vue etc don't let you is beyond me!

Sounds like a good film, in Edinburgh it's all about the Cameo & Filmhouse. :)

I have not seen any of his stuff.8o

They have a french cinema channel on sky now which is tops at £10 a month, and its one of the reasons I havent been to the cinema in ages.
Along with Latin america, France has the only movie industry thats making decent stuff thesedays.

This one starts in 50 mins, will stick it on the sky box...

Simon Kessler (Mathieu Almaric), an in-house corporate psychologist, is assigned the task of assessing whether the company’s CEO Mathias Jüst (Michel Lonsdale) is unfit to do his job by its vice-president Karl Rose (Jean-Pierre Kalfon). His investigation will lead him to uncover alarming secrets about his superiors, the history of the company and call into question his own methods of practice.

A huge critical success, Nicholas Klotz’s film flexes unprecedented ambition in its scope as it delves into the psychology of the modern day corporate world. In the vain of other recent French films, most notably Laurent Cantet’s Human Resources and Timeout, Klotz examines with a keen eye the human cost of company life. Furthermore, the unexpected historical links he constructs add an unnerving atmosphere to a film which captivates and disarms the viewer through its strong story and powerhouse cast.

‘One of the most remarkable, ambitious and disquieting films in recent French cinema’ – Chris Darke, Sight & Sound

Showroom Sheffield = no bouncers, especially not student union-type bouncers!

they were showing scarface in a cinema in glasgow last night. i really wish i'd found out sooner. they need to do that shit more often, show older films again for the people that missed them first time round

They do it all the time at Prince Charles in London. :)

"From" £1.50 a film as well.

http://www.princecharlescinema.com/

Back to the future 2 is on next week !!!

Scarface just been reissued so its doing the rounds all over.
I should watch it again sometime....but its SO 80's that it hurts....even moreso than Back to the Future or Wall Street....

Fucking hell...The Prince Charles is THE BEST CINEMA EVER....but I haven't been there since 1995, and it doesn't seem worth the travel from here.....even if I can get £5 on megabus!
Shit actually that makes it normal cinema price!
