New opioid approved by FDA in the past few days: tapentadol

DJ has a great point though, APAP is added to codeine because of codeine's very weak analgesic profile. In fact, I am suprised they even still sell T3s and 4s in the US anymore given 600 mg Ibuprofren. Hmmm, on second thought, when I was in the US and had an abcess in my lower jaw the bastards would not even give me less than 600 mgs of that! I suppose one should be thanful for what they had. If I did not have the methadone I might have taken it to the street.

On Atropine, yeh it DOES have an effect but none I would ever care about, and only in certain dosages.

ever mixed tramadol with morph?

Yes, I've mixed Tramadol with Morphine. I found it to be an okay combination, definitely better than just Tramadol on its own. Though in combination with a full agonist like Morphine, its effects are not so pronounced. I like the seratogenic effects Tramadol provides combined with the sedation and histamine reaction I get from the Morphine. I could imagine this combo being ideal for someone with a low tolerance.

I was just about to post something about this drug, until I saw this thread.

I'm looking forwards to it; I'm one of those lucky ones who can get pretty damn high off of Tramadol, so a stronger form of it should be yummy...

The only thing I want to question is the statement where you said APAP was a harmful additive, which wasnt put in for that reason. APAP is not harmful to IV.

If you have APAP ready for IV then it's not harmful; but the APAP found in most medications is insoluble in water and could cause big problems if an IV was attempted.

and this is comming from a veteran...oh look at me, i'm cool, i was on 265mg of methadone for over a year, then suboxone...back to heroin...yeah! ...fuck that biz...still i'd try it

Fucking great post! Thanks for being the word for us, sad to say, demented extreme addicts.. this is why I love ya Dex.. but I must say that I am amazed at the amount of random drug knowledge you all have.. its nuts.. I just hope some of you spend some of this energy on trying to better your own life.. not to say that this info you all are supplying isn't helping countless people who troll these threads.. I thank you all tho.. and I'll shut up because I have nothing remotely intelligent to add to this thread at the moment..

Tapenadol

I am getting a script of this tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works. I am currently on 100mcg of duragesic and 8 tabs of oxy 10/325 daily. My doctor is switching me from the Oxy to the tapentadol to see how it works. According to the pharmacist I will be the first one he has ever prescribed this to. I'll let everyone know how it compares to the Oxy.

Happy to be a new member. I have been lurking about on this board for some time and figure I might as well start contributing.

Excellent. Welcome to the board. After you have sampled it, start a new thread here and let us know the verdict.

Quote: "It is not yet known if the developers will eventually release tapentadol as a highly-restricted Schedule II medication, or if they will simply abandon plans to market the drug in the United States."

- So did they end up releasing it or abandoning it?? anyone know? from what I read they wanted it to be schedule III and it received schedule II....

I am not really looking forward to the substance, basically just a more potent version of Ultram (tramadol). It is not a direct descendant but its mechanism is much the same. One thing that is always nice is the lack of GI motility and the lack of active metabolites (in this case metabolites at all). We did a thread on it a longwhile ago in Advanced, although I really did not see the point in chiming in onit there.

Opioids with SSRI properties definitely are not my "cup of tea" (no pun intended since there is a current volatile thread on Pod Tea hahaah). I do admit interest in one area, just in terms of clinical science. With the SSRI/opioid combo you run into real problems at very moderate dosages , and so as a significantly more potent substance (as compared to Ultram), I would like to see what the literature says on the oncidence of seizure and/or death due to this mechanism.

Who said anything about this drug having SSRI properties? The article says it acts as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, not a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Two completely different things.

Been on Norco and Tramadol for a while now and I am going to get a scrip for Nucynta. My pharmacist also says i am the first to get it. Very nervous. Have a love/hate for Tramadol and Norco's are also a love/hate relationship. He said it's Shed. II and not one person has tried it yet. I am nervous. I want some samples first, can't I get that? Ugh. I will let you guys know what it's like first chance I get. I wish someone else who has tried it will let us know before I get some.

A stronger tramadol! Woo! Even though i can get 80's whenever i always wish i could score some of that tramadol... It looks like seizures are more likely though with the more nori uptake. Or am i ignorant? That was the reason for trams seizures right?

got one through a friend. i did it about 8 hours after .5 suboxone. i felt it which was suprising because my tolerance is high from suboxone. maybe it works like tramadol to suboxone. relaxing high, almost sedating, yet i felt no need to sleep. i would be interested to try it again when i'm off of suboxone.
