Just google around scientist, I am sure you will find something.

lol @ jenkem finding on campus. (and your name :P)

Found 40 yesterday the size of tennis balls. Same patch just further up the hill :)

Any one know what I should be looking out for in northern Illawarra and best conditions for finding them? About two hours south of Sydney.

You're after psilocybe subaeruginosa.

You'll find them growing around decaying wood, i.e. forests, barky/woodchippy soil, etc., where it is very damp (at the foot of hills or slopes after rain is a common habitat), and preferably, shady.

If you're anything but a mycologist, post an ID request and get plenty of background knowledge at shroomery.org before even considering eating anything.

Just to let you know I've thrown out the mushies I was talking about.. Couldn't trust them.. Although a friend said he ate some from the same spot and tripped?? I don't trust that kind of word of mouth though..

Guess its back to hunting! Goodluck ya'll!

^
Good idea. Never eat something if you aren't 100% sure what it is.
There's a lot of deadly mushrooms look similar to psilocybe subaeruginosa.

This cold snap in Melbourne has really made for a bumper season so far.

Hey guys.

Is it true that the mushies die with the first frost? So I take it that here in the A.C.T the season would be over as we have had two -6 degree nights in a row?

^^Wow I didn't know that at all. Thanks mate.

Naah thats cool:) Most of the mushroom cycle actualy develops under the surface as spores continue to bond with eachother where its warm and dark. Most species do well around 25C-30C. The initiative state where fruiting happens is just under room temp when theres light, high moisture and oxigen. These are the key factors for a healthy growth.

Sorry sustanon, but thats just not true. 12 to 15 degrees is the ideal temp for subs. If you were talking about cubes i'd agree. Having said that, frosts are not real good for mushies because of their high water content.

I was talkin about cubes and pan cyans. Not shit subs. If u read my post carefully u would have noticed that i said most mushrooms.

well, considering VeryBuffed is in Canberra, it would be pointless to give him advice on cubes and pan cyans at this time of the year. And no, MOST mushrooms have a much lower optimum temperature.

Well im not giving him advice regarding hunting. And most shrooms grow at medium temps. I donno why ur trying to explain ur theory to me who has such little mycology knowledge compared to me. Not dick sizing at all but i know my stuff when it comes to advance mycology. U can ask me anything and ill give you a decent explanation for anything regarding this subject.

Anyone from the north coast area, just want to hear some feedback so can give me hope to stumble upon some strong mushies
