Mushroom season 2009

Mates got like 50 yesterday and I was meant to have a trip with them, at the last minute one of my mates who was meant to be tripping and me decided we didn't feel like feeling nauseas for a few hours.

Let the other 3 go on their journey and just stayed in smoking cones, semi regret it now. Does anybody else feel like they have to force themselves to enjoy mushrooms these days because the body load sucks?

I used them a lot when I first discovered them with no problems, but these days every time I do them I get so sick.

For me the bodyload sucks only on the comeup. I hate that feeling, i get anxiety so bad. What kind of mushies were they?
 
Psilocybe Subaeruginosa. If I throw up sometimes the nausea goes away after the comeup but I always try not to puke so I feel sick the whole time, I have never had a full blown anxiety attack or bad trip but I am a lot more prone to discomfort and slight anxeity that stop me from being able to enjoy myself.

Were they dry or fresh ones? Contaminated maybe? Ive seen alot of people throw up on picked mushies, just curious.
 
Fresh picked but it has happened on dried ones. I know what I am doing when it comes to picking and they certainly were Psilocybe Subaeruginosa and nothing else, I have only ate mushrooms I picked and/or subsequently ID'd positively. I never used to get so sick but the more I have used them the worse the nausea has gotten.
 
Anyone in New Zealand (more specifically Auckland) still finding any? The recent spell of dry weather seems to have gotten rid of most the shrooms in my area. :(

I had a chat to some kiwi hunters for you...

The mountainous area's outside of Rotorua are still producing subs thanks to the night time moisture. I'm sure the same goes for high area's around Auckland although it's getting late in the season for the north island.

That place is pretty well watched by authorities so i would post as little as possible on it.

You wouldn't happen to know the guy who leaves emu bitter cans everywhere through the forest there each year?

Friends of mine really want to find out who loves shrooms and still has such little respect for the environment.

Also...

Ethanol extraction does work but has a lower yield than methanol from first trial run.

40 dry grams yielded roughly 1.1g of alkaloid sludge

40 dry grams of subs were added to 400ml of ethanol in a sealed glass jar. Jar was left in a dark place and shaken every few hours over a 24 hour period. Ethanol was decanted through coffee filters into a pyrex dish for evaporation (cold fan blown) over another 24 hours.

The end result was a clear sludge in the bottom of the tray with hints of blue from oxidation.

Because of unknown potency i started at a dose of roughly 100mg and ended up taking 3 doses in this range over an hour or so to reach a mild but extremely clean and clear psilocybin trip.

300-500mg straight up would probably be closer to my prefered dosage range but it's hard to say as potency varies so much from shroom to shroom and the extraction can also make for potency variations.

I am now going to do some saturation tests on the ethanol to work out the perfect ratio of dry subs to ethanol. 1g/10ml was just a guesstimate and i assume i can up this ratio.

I have always left shrooms in the ground when I dont need any more... good karma...

If your extract is stable I will not be leaving them from now on :)

The extract is pretty unstable if u ask me. Best to store it very well in a good solvent to prevent degradation.

Very unstable but can be stored quite well in alcohol above 50% pure.

You can potentially fit many doses in say a 700ml bottle of 50% vodka and this can be stored for a period of years with little to no degradation.

I have friends in North America who haven't hunted in over 3 years and just have a shot of Psilo-Saturated top shelf rye whiskey whenever they want to trip. They haven't noticed any drop in potency over this period of time and i have read several online reports with similar storage techniques.

If you decide to take this path, please make sure you label the extract.

I for one wouldn't be phased if i drank a few shots of extract by mistake but i doubt many people would like to accidently ingest a potent psychedelic ;)
