No joke I use both the maxon 808 and a ross compressor (clone)

coincidence?

Also these with fender tube amps makes my ears happy.

Prs ce 24 -> maxon 808, Ibanez AD9,mxr EVH p90 and flanger, Little big Muff, EH Pog, Boss V-wah--->Mesa Tremoverb (JJ tubes), Marshall 1960 lead cab.
Near perfection.

Hmm, I need to take a picture of my amp. I play through a '65 Deluxe with a Jensen speaker from back in the day. All the tubes have been replaced with vintage Russian and East German tubes. Warm and analog and fat and beautiful. It's really a gorgeous piece of work and I'm lucky to own it. I bought it ages ago (almost 20 years ago) for $350. 8o

Play a '62 Strat, a reissue '52 Tele and a beautiful sunburst American Standard Strat '87: maple board, tortoiseshell pickguard like James Jamerson's joints back in the 60s. I play soul, RnB, and Jazz and Curtis Mayfield (deserves his own category). My desires: a 335 and L5 (yeah, right, never in this lifetime), a George Benson Ibanez, and while I'm smoking crack right here, a D'angelico. More realistically, a Les Paul and and a good silver metallic flake SG.

BLer'a have excellent taste in equipment.

Something tells me that guitar was really for you, until the babe gets old enough to use it ;)
I was inspired to buy it for her as she enjoys 'playing' my other guitars so much :) Oh, and it'll be handy to take traveling ;)

Haven't come across the Maxon or Ross boxes over here (uk) - worth checking out, I take it - what impresses most about them?

Well, it's not all my *favorite* gear, but it's my gear-

Rig.jpg

(From L-R: Mexican Strat I've had since I was 13, Ibanez SZ320 which is my main guitar these days, Ibanez JEM7V and a Jackson 7-string).

The amp is a Peavey XXL which is solid state and gives a GREAT chugga-chugga tone....not so hot with lower gain sounds though. The cab under it is a Line 6 2x12 with Celestion V30's.

The pedal in front of the guitars is a Digital Music Corp. Ground Control Pro and is used for controlling the effects (which is a TC Electronics G-Force you see on the amp head). The volume pedal to the right of the MIDI pedal is used as an expression pedal for the effects. The G-Force has so many options for controlling the effects parameters, I can control mixes/tempos/LFO's/ADSR's anything I can think of. I mostly use it to increase over-all effects mixes like delays and reverbs.

I don't play as much as I should these days, as I sing in a band now....but it's still fun to crank up and play when I get the chance.

Oh yeah, there's a few pedals kickin' around...an old Digitech Whammy 2, a REALLY old Boss DS-1 and some pedals Danelectro sent me to try out, (which are KILLER pedals!! The new true-bypass pedals are seriously great!)

My baby (Marin HD-28). I don't play as much as I used to, and it's really only for fun by myself most of the time, but it's nice to sit down with a guitar that sounds really nice when I do

I use an Ibanez AS-73 semihollowbody into a B-52 AT-100 tube head and Ibanez 4x12 cab. Unfortunately both are broken right now but honestly if I can get them to work I don't ever want another guitar/amp, they're pretty much perfect for me.

I have a few guitars, but I love my candy apple red Fender Jaguar.

It's just been fitted with a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. bridge pick up, and last year I ditched the old bridge saddle, and swapped it for a Schaller roller bridge instead (with very low action).

It did have a Seymour Duncan Little '59 pick up at one point, but I had to do away with it. There just wasn't enough sustain.

EDIT: The bridge pickup has now been replaced with a DiMarzio Super Distortion S.
