A smoking ban in Amsterdam which is laden with cannabis cafes seems mighty daft. You think they'd wave it for the coffee shops which specifically sold weed seeing as their sole purpose is for folk to go in and smoke. :\

Said it elsewhere, but that line-up is far from alluring. Having said that, I have no idea who half the people listed on the site are cos I'm old and don't listen to R1. It does finish at 11 though so still got time to do stuff afterwards, but I'm not sure I'll be going to the Dance Valley thing myself. Will see if there are more appealing options in the offing :)
it's called DANCE VALLEY.

the clue is in the title, mate. ;)

it's only for one day, and there will be plenty of other things to do (while it's on and afterwards) and plenty of other people who won't want to go.

some of the people on the line-up are familiar to un-leet populist codgers like what i am, but i can assure you there are plenty of people on there who will be familiar to the more ubercool members here.

there are always LOADS of things to do and see at festivals even if you don't particularly like the music anyway. :)

definitely going now, fuck work! :D
That sounds wicked, lee will definitely be up for that. Saving starts now!

is there a more complete lineup available yet? with the amount of different areas i imagine there's some pretty varied tuneage

Yeah, this is what I'm coming around to thinking. The headline acts are really not my thing at all, but there's bound to be something funky going on somewhere. Alternatively, there's always wandering round in a wasted daze :D

^ Probably won't be seeing to many of us in April, Inso, cos the meet is in July ;)

Am starting to get moderately excited about this now. Not too long to go. Any news on what else is going on other than this slightly uninspiring Dance Valley thingy? Have vague memories of other things happening that are too vague to recall right now.

Am also considering making it into a proper lil break as I haven't had a holiday for the best part of 20 years. Would love to spend some time in Holland in general cos I really enjoyed it when I stayed for a weekend once (apart from the sleeping in the train station part :|). Quite like the idea of wandering about the place a bit - maybe seeing a bit more of what the Continent has to offer even.

lol oops I was too stoned earlier, as often I made up what it said rather than actually reading it. Or maybe it said April before, who knows. July would be after uni exams end so might also be a possibility for us down here.

Wandering around Amsterdam was great fun last year, we ended up walking for miles from one end to the other just taking in the sights of it all and stopping at a different coffeeshop every half hour or so. It really is a lovely place I'm itching to go back. I've heard good things about the other major cities there too, same sort of atmosphere but far less stoned tourists stumbling about. :)

Weed can be smoked inside so long as its not rolled with tobacco. They give out a special smoking herb to use instead inside the coffeeshops plus many have an outdoor area. But a few of the coffeeshops let us smoke tobacco in spliffs anyway when we were there, rolled 'em in plain view of the owner. Only the shops down small back streets or alleyways though, on busy streets they have to be more careful I guess.

That makes some more sense. I love Amsterdam yet I hate weed. Walking around the place is indeed great, so is cycling if not a little scary at times.

I fancy visiting the 'dam despite hating weed. It just doesn't work in the ways that it's been advertised. Relaxin? fuck off.

It doesn't relax me either DS, freaks me out and causes panic attacks. :|

A drug I haven't touched since the first time I went to the 'dam around 5/6 years ago due to a major freak out and bad trip. Space cakes for those who are not used to cannabis are a bad, bad idea.

Anyway I've been back and didn't do any drugs and had the time of my life. Bike rides round the city, sex shows, visits to breweries, warehouse parties, canal boat trips, pub crawls. It's a great place. :D

Dearest Shambles can we have a date for tea and cake at one those lovely special coffee shops? <3

hopefully felix will withdraw that hurtful :| smiley now ;)
