Good tasting alcohol? Impossible?

Everyone has their own individual set of tastebuds, therefore their own taste preferences. Some people love sweet flavours, others prefer salty/savoury flavours, others prefer citrus etc etc.
Some people love the taste of alcohol.
You don't seem to like it, and that's just your preference.

As a side note, I have found that some of the more expensive drinks can be less palatable than some of the cheaper ones. So more money doesn't necessarily mean better taste.

i beg to differ. i have never met a single person who enjoyed the taste of straight ethanol. ethanol has a foul to taste to humans and this is true in almost all cases. it's not a matter of taste buds. and i'd be willing to bet that no one "loves the taste of alcohol", even many severe alcoholics wince at the taste of everclear. it's other flavors in the drink that people like, or the association with the reinforcing effects. as i said before, alcohol would never have caught on as a flavoring agent if not for the psychoactive effect.
 
It's not impossible really..

I'm talking about straight hard spirits here.. since I see beer/wine as more of a refreshing kind of drink rather than the usual alcohol.

Aftershock is quite good if I remember correctly.

And if you get on the path of alcoholism.. you'd be longing for that hard alcohol taste.

Used to sip straight vodka and absinthe when I was in the habit of drinking all the time. And I used to enjoy every drop. Now don't even make me taste a drop of vodka or I'll puke all over the place. I may be able to down absinthe(it's my drink of choice to get shitfaced) but I'm not much of a fan of alcohol tbh..

Oh and smoking a cigarette while drinking spirits always makes them taste better.
 
To the OP I can understand what you mean, I'm a recovering alcoholic, and after 14 years being pissed, when I finally gave up drinking, I was like what was I doing it for, it tastes like crap anyways, and drinking 20+ cans of what tasted horrible everyday now just makes me laugh and think how crazy addiction can be.

There are a couple of drinks out there that do taste nice, like coffee liqiur or those fruit flavour vodka drinks, drank in moderation, but on reflection to my first paragraph I suppose 20 + cans of stella a day for 14, years is gonna taste horrible anyways, just like eating a big mac everyday would taste horrible after two weeks.

Wow my addiction for beer was that stubborn that I could actually drink that everyday, amazes me and is slightly sad.

ive never liked drinking, always have hated the act of drinking, and love the act of smoking herb, thats why im probably a pothead type person.

when i do drink which is every couple months, i like beer for its hoppy taste, and if its not that, then cranberry vodka, anything that can mask the taste of ethanol
 
its all relative. what one likes another hates.

i think that there is a beer out there for everyone. there are so many different kinds that you can find one you would enjoy. everything from fruity to chocolate to what-have-you. theres a place around here that sells hundreds of different kinds of beer from all over the world. i think if you explained what you liked to drink, they could find a beer to match your tastebuds.

others have mentioned mixed drinks. you can definately get a mixed drink that you would like as well. its just a matter of trial and error. awhile back, a friend of mine made some concoction of a bottle of 151 proof everclear, a case of beer, and a shit ton of pink lemonade in a big ass cooler. a child couldve drank it and thought it was just pink koolaid.
 
have you tried bud light? its all about drinkability.


plus, holding your breath after a shot will quench that instinctive vomit reflex

Well dude after spending 11 year binge i spent 7 months in a rehab in london and coming out to a three year binge, I got my liver tested and friends and family expected grave news as by then I was clearing 3 times 18 bottle crates in one sitting in 50 hour sessions, well to mine and everyone's amazement my liver was in fine condition.

I had lost weight cause I never ate only drank, but after starting opiates 6 months ago I decided I didn't like alcohol anymore and stopped drinking and besides alcohol and opiates don't mix that well.

So with beer given up and a certain dislike to it,,,, now I have decided opiates are boring too and want to change fun for a car and playing poker.

So health now is still pretty good, lost a little more weight due to buzzing to much, but hey opiates killed the drinking habit and now I'm killing the opiate habit , all well that ends well
And I'm still healthy, what a result.
 
I wish I liked alcohol, but I am right there with you. I hate the taste and I hate how it makes me feel. I have never gotten the happy buzzed/tipsy love everyone and everything kinda drunk. I just feel sick or depressed.

Yeah i sort of felt the same way when I drank the first few times.
I think its just an acquired taste. The only drinks that i find to be drinkable are...

- Jagermeister + Red Bull
- Goldschlager + Doctor Pepper
- Crown Royal + Coca-Cola
- Jack Daniel's + Coca-Cola
- Captain Morgan's Original Spiced Rum + Coca-Cola

Try those out and you don't have to make them as strong as they do at the bar.

I love the taste of a fine wine or beer. When I first tried alcohol nothing tasted good, esp beer and liquor, hell I still dont like straight liquor, but have definitely aquired a taste for beer, wine and some mixed drinks.
Give me a good,real French bordeaux or a nice belgian brew and im one happy motherfucker.

I Also don't enjoy the taste of alcohol much. I think its an acquired taste. OR some people like it cuz it gets them drunk.

I personally can't stand the taste of alcohol unless its like a few drops in a big glass of juice or soda. I just kinda take the taste cuz it gots me drunk, always hating the taste. Thats why I ultimately prefer drugs. You generally don't have to dink a bunch of nasty tasting liquid to get messed up and the effects are usually more fun anyways.

If you don't like the taste of alcohol buy some good vodka that has practically no bitter taste or any smell of it (polar ice is a good one) and mix it with cranberry juice. You won't taste it at all then.

I love the taste of certain types of alcohol. Good beer, scotch, whiskey, burboun, rum, wine, etc. I'll drink it just for the taste.

OMG that is one of the worst beers ever. In my opinion atleast. If you want a good beer get heineken, guiness, miller genuine draft or moosehead. The latter is a really good canadian beer.
