^ Yep.. im in the EXACT same situation with alot of people i know (guys and girls).
It sucks in the sense that, you become alienated because you dont push yourself down to that level.. i have so many friends that are very narrow minded, almost like they see life through 'tunnel vision'.. whereas myself its more like 'peripheral vision'. I often find it hard to strike up a conversation with these people.. because i have to try and relate it to something within there grasp of things - 'the here and now'.
I've always been someone who's never quite accepted the 'social normality's'.. always been chasing something, looking for something more.

That aside.. uniter.
I have a friend who's been using psychedelics for 5-6 years i'd say, he's too the point where.. it's almost like he has no ego, just principals, logic and research. He met another friend of mine and there now b/f and g/f. The girl she hates pot, but she likes psychedelics..(although shes only been into them about 6 months) but, she has serious emotional issues when on it.. i can tell she fights the trip the majority of the time (but she still manages to enjoy it) it's interesting to see the two interact because you have the girl who 'gives' her whole self too the guy and connects with him on a deep emotional level, but then you have the guy.. who loves her, but he never ends up investing total emotion into the relationship or relying on it. He's always trying to look beyond the horizon..
I don't really know where im going with this lol.. i just know a couple which sounded similar too your post.
