Phenethylamines How can I purify 2C-B at home?

The guy who said he doesn't know about 2C-B who never provided any detail on how to actually purify 2C-B using chatgpt to prove that his chatgpt derived tek is better.
Well done 👏

Thought I'd seen it all.
woah wait, i never said shit about anything purifying 2cb except acetone washing isnt gonna remove everything that can be cut with it
then yall came at me with some 2CB hasnt even been cut crap

says right here outta 4 samples (granted off darknet) 0 had straight 2CB as advertised: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/dar.13825?utm_source=chatgpt.com
says here as well: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0376871619301577?utm_source=chatgpt.com

nowhere did i say shit about synthesizing anything and the one article i referenced was removed bcuz it was synthesis in violation of the boards policies

yall enjoy your fake 2CB brominated phenethylamine classes of synthetics

i was thinking more, phenylalanine -> decarboxylated -> PEA -> lil alpha-carbon methylation -> Amphetamine
have fun in the 2CB world (where ya not gettin 2CB unless ya synth it yourself or get really lucky)
ima stick with fast n smooth

:)
ya know damn well acetone aint cleaning a suga cut outta nothing

im done with this thread, see ya another

peeps on the 2CB part of the lab forum are testy

dude, your links have source=chatgpt in them

priceless

absolutely, its able to scan 20+ sites faster than i ever will, i double checked em
most labs are using Ai now too so why wouldnt i

btw, speaking of Ai and papers, im the only one here showing actual lab research papers to stand by what i said about re: acetone and solubility

I dont think it is unlikely that 2C-B would be impure, or have synthesis byproducts, but I think from the nature of the drug it is unlikely to be cut. By "cut" I think of Cocaine where it is bulked out with whatever to make more money. I can't imagine it is passed through as many hands as drugs like Coke and I think the most likely thing is sloppy synthesis.

I just scrolled through a few pages of Wedinos results for 2C-B and the vast majority were 2C-B only, a few had 2C-H as well, one had paracetamol and one had mephedrone. I'm not counting "Tussi" or pink cocaine because that has probably never seen 2C-B.

right
Due to the rarity of it, im agreeing
I only proposed a possible scenario, there is no magic cleaning or purification method without a bunch of hassle
Simple washes work here n there
So the potential is there for it to be "cut" and thats exactly what im referring to - adding bulk crap to increase profit and weight (happens in streets market quite often)
2CB is rare over in USA area, Im 45 (been playing with drugs since college days), yet to have anyone say here's some 2CB
Tuci, apparently is just some pink dye addded

Where this stuff does intrigue me is the Phenylethylamine (prob should take somethese PEA thoughts to another thread)- where this scares me, is the bromine (something about bromine that scares me, despite its a great halogen great leaving group for Sn1 Sn2 En1 En2 pathways) id be interesting to know why they used bromine - watched few Hamilton Morris's vids and they didnt really explain why bromine

PEA is legal in usa (for now) and although a stimulant by nature, with slight psyche effects - eating or ingesting it as-is wont work and taking a MAOI (to interfere with receptor uptakes in order to get high off PEA) is way too dangerous of a synergism (blow ya heart out)

Bromoarenes and bromoalkanes are much different in their reactivity. If you look up the metabolic pathway of 2C-B, the bromine stays immobile. You are a little too confident in the knowledge you have.

PEA is active in high doses without enzyme inhibition. Makes for a very short, very addictive stimulant rush. Doesn't have much to do with psychedelic phenethylamines.

I don't care much about what psychedelics people want to take, this is an individual choice for everyone. But I do recommend every psychedelic enthusiast to try mescaline at least once.

Put me on good chem path (as far as learning deeper drug design)
I had known in basic org chem the bromine and its electronegativity and size as far as halogenation goes for drugs
I further looked up the halogenations and found:
CompoundHalogenChemical name (abbreviated)
2C-FFluorine4-Fluoro-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine
2C-CChlorine4-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine
2C-BBromine4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine
2C-IIodine4-Iodo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine

So they could have used any halogen but each has its own nuances:
Metabolic Stability:
Fluoroarenes are generally highly resistant to metabolic defluorination. This stability is often exploited in drug design (e.g., in many pharmaceuticals, a fluorine atom is introduced to block a metabolically labile site or increase lipophilicity).
Chloroarenes are generally more resistant to metabolic dehalogenation than bromoarenes or iodoarenes, but less so than fluoroarenes. They can be metabolized via oxidative pathway

The immobile statement - For bromoarenes, direct dehalogenation (breaking the C-Br bond) is rare under normal aerobic metabolic conditions. Instead, other parts of the molecule (e.g., the methoxy groups in 2C-B) are more likely to be metabolized
Iodoarens produce way to many other metabolic pathways

The research I found does not establish that bromine is used as a leaving group during the synthesis of 2C-B beyond its role in aromatic bromination.
A research paper on 2C-B synthesis reports a route in which the phenethylamine framework is formed first, followed by bromination of the aromatic ring to produce 2C-B. In that route, bromine is introduced as the final aromatic substituent rather than used as a leaving group in a subsequent step
A separate forensic chemistry paper on bk-2C-B used an alpha α-brominated intermediate

----
Bromine when attached to an ordinary, saturated carbon, can leave through a conventional SN1 or SN2 reaction.
Bromine when bonded directly to an aromatic ring carbon, conventional SN1 and SN2 mechanisms generally do not work at that position.

thnx for the correction xdrc and the proper way to look at halogens re: rings, substituents and carbon (sp2 & sp3) bonded orbitals and leaving-group ability and substrate reactivity are two different things. Br⁻ can be an excellent leaving group, but the molecular structure determines whether a particular reaction mechanism is viable.
Orgchem toolkit info: sp2 doesnt play nice with SN1/SN2, sp3 hybrid orbitals do regardless of which halogen is the leaving group

thnx for the orgchem2 info and correction

There is a good data from Kykeon, Energy Control and European drug testing symposiums on 2C-B purity.

Some of the 2C-B that's available is tan-brown and that's been tested multiple times at 40-70% pure. I don't think it's cut. I think it's just not washed or purified. People also say the bromination step is fucked up resulting in residual 2C-H but I have no idea what that really means.

Some of the white 2C-B does test at over 90%.

There have been some tests with contamination from other drugs including coke, mdma, fentanyl, mescaline, MDA. That probably comes from sloppy drug dealers bagging everything up on the same dirty tables.

The 2C-B presses are dosed low, around half of what is advertised but they do actually contain 2C-B and no adulterants. At this time.

I do not think it is frequently bulked like coke. Frankly, coke users are fucking dumb and they are often using it while wasted and with reckless swagger. I think nobody even washes their coke even though it's probably stepped on hard.

2C-B is niche so people have to seek it out and I think they pay a little more attention to the high. So unless you substitute the 2C with another drug like a tryptamine or maybe MDA (and these drugs cost about the same as 2c), people will be able to tell if it's a low dose or you mixed in caffeine or sugars. They will just think the drug sucks or the dealer is a fuckwad.

------

I think what I am really asking in my original question is how to separate the 2C-H or whatever leftovers from synthesis and make it nice and shiny. I know 2C-H is supposedly inactive but why bother fucking around and instead, clean it and be able to also dose accurately?

He's saying a/b (acid/base). Using a partitioned system of an aqueous and organic phase, by modifying the pH certain molecules will want to migrate to one or the other phases (layers of liquid) this allows you to keep some molecules and remove others.

Generally unnecessary in the case of 2C-B as most of the impurities formed during it's synthesis are removed during it's process steps and the ones that do remain in the final product are typically soluble in alcohols/organics while 2C-B (when it's in a salt form) is soluble in aqueous phase. Simply powdering your 2C-B hbr/hcl and washing it with an organic solvent (acetone/isopropyl alcohol) like I described in my first comment will remove most of the impurities. If you have the HCL salt, it has already undergone an A/B anyway so another A/B would literally do nothing.

If you insist on using AI, use it as a tool but crosscheck everything because it is drawing on what humans say and humans say a lotta bullshit. Also doing things yourself is going to teach you a lot better than some book ever will.

-Edit- Honestly the final step of 2C-B is pretty elegant in my eyes when done with elemental bromine. It's messy but elegant. You take 2C-H freebase, and react it Br2. The bromine atoms disassociate, one of them kicks off the hydrogen at the 4 position of 2C-H, that hydrogen bonds to the lone bromine atom remaining to create HBr (hydrobromic acid) in situ which immediately forms a bond to the 2C-B's nitrogen creating a stable salt that can be washed with an organic to remove impurities and make snow white 2C-B.
I do think there may be some slight difference in absorption of 2C-B HCL vs HBR but the HBr is a fine molecule and doesn't require another transformation. That's just my opinion though.

So is this bromine process the way to strip the useless 2C-H from a pile of 2C-B?

I guess it depends if they test for all the byproducts though?

No. 2C-B is made from 2C-H by bromination. Contamination with 2C-H means the conversion was not full and the end product not cleaned up enough (distillation of freebase [basically nobody does this], crystallisation [regrettably, basically nobody does this on the market]).

IIRC they do GCMS and they report the existence of any "unknown" that doesn't have a match in their database.
I didn't know they do GCMS, is that for every sample? no wonder they have such a backlog, I'd guess they're limited by equipment availability and throughput quite severely

I do see that they test pills (that must contain pill filler) but the results say only 2C-B, perhaps they don't list certain inactive fillers? Or maybe that only goes for pills they test.
I thought they only listed active compounds, IIRC 1 of the issues with them is that the can't report on strength for example, just primary active compound and secondaries which I assume is really just looking at the biggest peak in the GCMS, so even if the only active compound were 2C-B but the pill is 95% filler, then you've got a shit underdosed pill. Seems underdosing is on 2c-b pills is pretty common these days.

HCI for me, though it's harder to get hold of in the UK

meaning product didnt go to completion
