🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 Gibberings ver. CCXIX - "what's new, c*nty chops?"

fucking hell I'm back in the 90s

iu
Used to hold DC trainers next to God and still like them so much in my old age.

a shop at The Merry Hill Shopping centre have a place that sells old style trainers and they have some Air Jordans from the early 1990's and they are asking £450 but they have never been worn.

I saw an episode of Antiques Roadshow a few months ago and the guy had got a huge stash on Apple phones in the box still sealed up, he had an original iPhone which looked near equal to some Nokia 3310. The value given to his collection was crazy, I can't remember the actual amount but it seemed to me they are worth collecting alongside trainers.

I sold a Nintendo 8bit NES a while ago to cex and I the game Ducktails which is very rare but I had no idea, I walked out of there with £240 which made me very happy.
some serious cash can be made if you have original electronic items or Nike trainers it seems.

my dream trainers as a kid but could never afford them

how fucking much!

I mean holy shit how do you get a pair of boots that old that's never been worn.

jesus am I really justifying £450 as reasonable?!

there's some youtube stuff out there about restoring old trainers, it's amazing what they can do, but you ain't putting back wear on the sole.

the amount of this stuff I've given away, sold for cheap, or sold for cheap is crazy

Niche electronics in general seem have turned out to be a great investment, I've heard this mentioned, and witnessed it myself with just a basic noughties mp3 player that I have, (it also plays videos and displays images on a screen about 1" size, and can record, and has some radio capablities, IIRC, but other than that it does nothing else.)

I was looking into buying a second one for a backup, but couldnt believe that this model was being sold for the asking price of £399 when I last looked on Ebay! That was it's only availability. I should have watched the item to see if it sold. But anyway, this price is way more than the value of inflation on that item, and I had no idea they would be sellling for that much! And this was when I last looked a year or 2 ago.,

Perhaps they are worth even more now!

I don't really collect stuff just for the sake of collecting, or for investments, but I wish I'd had a crystal ball about this trend!

Although I really like the item, it was a nice surprise (in some ways) to know that I may be able to sell it for £400 or more if I ever really need that cash. I could buy a much cheaper replacement mp3 player, I have no doubt. But it's also not good news that a replacement for this exact item could be so ridicilously expensive (for what it is, and what I paid for it) that I would never pay £400 or more to buy another one.

I know I could use a smart phone, but they seem a lot more battery power hungry, because I tend to leave my mp3 player switched on for as many hours as I fall asleep without waking to switch it off. My phone takes hours to charge if I run it's battery down, but the mp3 player is much faster to do a full re-charge from completely out of power.

And here is the apoplectic rage of a Yorkshire working class man I love and was starting to worry had left you.

This is the website for the store, they are based at Merry Hill just outside Dudley in The West Midlands.

I've never been able to balance the price Nike ask for their stuff when it's made in Vietnam by some old woman who makes at the most $50 per week for working at the very least 12 hours a day.
I never had any Apple products & have rejected being given Apple phones for free when my mom contract ran out due to the fact the Apple manufacturing plants in China have Suicide nets to stop the workers jumping to their death from the roof due to the shit conditions they have to work under, it's not possible for me to accept such bullshit and as I cannot stop it from happening I am able to reject their products.

I feel bad enough wearing items from Primark after all the people burned to death in the Indian workshop they got all their summer stock from. People were trapped in a collapsing building as it burned to the ground and people were stuck under the collapsing walls etc with broken legs as they burned to death or chocked to death on toxic black smoke FFS!!!!!!
That's what you get from Primark and the kind of stuff that happens when you can get 3 t-shirts for £10 as they sell stuff so cheap because if the totally dogshit working conditions.

How most people don't think hard on this stuff and be kept awake at night by it is beyond my grasp.

Next time you see some fucking moron wearing those apple earpod things just remember some poor Chinese person has been kept locked up in a factory doing an 80 hour week and has to look at anti suicide nets each day of the week, we live in such a fucking horrific world when you look at it with no filter.

This Earl Spencer drama with King Charles isn't stopping, BBC Radio 4 are sure flogging a dead donkey tonight to say the least.

it's just like Diogenes of Sinope said to Alexander the Great "I can't tell the bones of your father from those of a slave"

Diana was just a simple human who died like all of us will, she wasn't special in any way, shape or form.
I swear people who have some serious fetish with The Royal Family are some of the most mentally sick people on this planet, they seem to think a Prince, Princess, King or Queen have special powers which is so absurd it's beyond comical.

It's always blown my mind why people stand around like Cows or Sheep, waving a piece of material they call a "flag" and are willing to die and kill others for just to catch a small moment of those types driving past and they become overtaken by some kind of fever.

Royal Family supporters are nothing but a very sick cult imho.

Have vaguely heard there’s some Di drama but honestly have no idea what it is and nor do I care to - for all the reasons you give, Bandit.

I do remember the night Di died though. Was at a friend’s house, we’d rented a PS1, tbe game Jumping Flash, were listening to Mr Bungle’s first album. and were on a buttload of mushies.

Do you pronounce it "Birming-HAAM" ? as I've noticed Americans tend to do with such place names, eg "Bucking-HAAM Palace," not 'Buckingum" as us Brits pronounce it?

I dunno if it's very insular to expect the rest of the world to know all the intricacies and subtleties of how all of our place names should be pronounced. Some of them are very easy to get wrong, to be fair, if you hadn't already heard the correct pronunciations.

Worcestershire and Gloucestershire are a couple of my favourite tongue twisters for hearing people mangle pronouncing them. Even Brits that haven't seen those names in print before, and have never heard them pronounced correctly, make a total hash of those!

TBF it does work the other way too. I've heard Brits mangle Arkansas as "R Kansas" :ROFLMAO:

Nah, it sounds more "Hoity-Toity" to me

however here they do say Ar Kans Ass. Yes !!
