Doesn't GABA drugs help if you haven't had a drink that day or do the DT's knock it out the park & you become ill?
I'm not as bad an alcho that I get DTs thankfully, more that I'm honest with myself that I have a problem, I drink too much and too often, but I think most people would consider I like booze too much rather than I'm an alcho - they're wrong....
I think pregabs are from the same broad family as GBL (IIRC)
Sort of, in the sense that they can both slow down brain activity, but they're actually quite different drugs and work in different ways. Pregabalin doesn't directly act on GABA receptors; it reduces the release of some of the brain's excitatory chemicals. GBL is converted into GHB as you know, which mainly works through GABA-B receptors to reduce brain activity. So they affect the brain in different ways, but their effects can overlap and combining them can make the overall effects much stronger - hence all the HR warnings about combining CNS drugs.
More geeky explanation - Pregabalin doesn't directly act on GABA-A or GABA-B receptors; it binds to the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels, reducing the release of several excitatory neurotransmitters. GBL is converted to GHB, whose pharmacological effects are predominantly mediated through GABA-B receptors (although GHB also has other targets).
how pregabalin and 4-methyl pregabalin are transported into the brain
I'm about 2 steps beyond my personal knowledge here, are you talking about amino-acid transport mechanisms rather than simply diffusion through lipid membranes?
also I think you've typo'd or misremembered the patent number, that 1 seems to be about a nano-filler performance in polymers, there seems to be quite a few related patents for 4-methyl though.
legality of it's production
well it still falls under PSA so "legal" to produce if not for human consumption....
moving the sheer bulk (and putting it into capsules and blister-packs as who trusts an open cap) means it wouldn't appeal to vendors whose sole metric is potency.
actully I think the bigger issue is just how easy and cheap it is to get pregabalin, there's no real need to bother with an analogue. no doubt there's always a market for something stronger, and people will buy powder rather than blister packs, but it's got to provide something more than what it replaces, maybe that's strength or profit margin, but given pregab tolerance build up it's maybe a bit self constraining with how much additional strength is useful, hmm not sure.
I took a quick look at 4-methyl and the other thing that's interesting is it's likely to have a longer duration of effect v pregab, 10-12 hours v pregab at 6, and ~2.5-3 times more potent.
I'll be honest 10-12 hours is a bit long for me, I mean at least it's not LSD so not as big a deal being locked into it when you'd rather stop and get off the bus, but I generally prefer to control/fine tune the duration and strength of effect by repeated redosing, and I think longer duration of effect has other risks like build up in your system with repeated use which when coupled with CNS issues when taking it with benzos (that have just that same build up risk themselves), potentially makes for a bit of a dangerous situation for some people.
having said all that.....given I take it a max of once per week I'd give it a try most likely (I'll ignore that it's only been tested on animals given I'm never likely to get my hands on any!)
