Trigger Warning Which drugs have had the worse effect on your mental health that were hardest to quit?

I think fucking Hexen (@Mushoku_Sensei I will use this word now:LOL:) , IV cocaine , crack

They are the hardest for me . I prefer going through withdrawals anytime than have that the recurrent nightmares, the cravings, the mental toll to resist the fucking urges to feel it for the rest of your life.

At least when you quit opioids its done ! it is very hard but then if you get your life together and have projects and stuff you can go on

Benzos although I've never tried hard opiates or meth
The withdrawal from heavy benzo use takes 3 months just to be able to interact with people again ,then there's the months if not years of severe depression and apathy
Complete loss of interest in things you enjoyed before
At least with heroin I believe you get medication to ease the pain ,with benzo wd you get fuck all

Prednisone/prednisolone, dexamethasone, cortisone-type drugs, by FAR, had the worst effect on my mental health. They basically fucked my kidneys, damaged my skin, probably my bones, and my right arm has now started to give out on my, I can't do 10-pin bowling with anything more than say a 10lb ball whereas before I could do a 15lb with ease. I'm now scoring much worse with a 10lb ball than I was with a 15lb, my highest score was 245 pins and that was last year. Since then I've been punching doors, and all sorts of shit, going into the most brutal rages and smashing stuff up.

I know it was the fucking steroids, it couldn't have possibly been anything else. Fuck Menieres disease and fuck steroids. I know I need them when my hearing goes to shit on one side or I get severe vertigo attacks that last for hours, but I fucking hate these drugs. I now know why doctors are hesitant to script for them. They really do cause a long list of horrid side effects which I'm now starting to realise. They've been doing this damage for the past 6 years...and the damage has sadly mounted up.

I bet they caused my self-harm, which in turn led to the hydrocephalus and nerve damage. I bet they also destroyed my ability to have an orgasm, and that seems to be a permanent thing because for the past 2 years I haven't had a proper orgasm. Oh, I had maybe 3 in the past 2 years that I'd say were really enjoyable. The rest were very weak and pathetic...every last one of them.

Crack, benzos and opioids. Been addicted to them all.
Crack is more of a psychological addiction.
Where as benzos and opioids and both mental and physical withdrawals.
A special mention fior pregabalin which can be fatal - like benzos to just stop
i’m currently making my life fall apart bc i can’t stop smoking crack. i’m so paranoid. i know my loved ones know im addicted. my husband left me for other reasons but i wonder if he knows that ive been using. it definitely is a psychological addiction. ive been telling myself for about 4 months now that im going to stop. but of course i haven’t, any tips on how to quit?

I suppose the easiest drug to quit would be heroin as the government continue to hand it out to you daily for free
It almost seems unfair to everybody else with different addictions who get fuck all

Are you in a situation where you could entirely change your lifestyle? Sometimes that's what it takes - that's what it took for me.

Do you have any positive influences for social support?

For what reasons do you want to quit? It will be easier if you truly want to quit and live a different life as opposed to wanting to quit for more superficial reasons like saving money or something

If you drink alcohol or take any benzos then they give an immediate green light to your brain to say its OK, one more time
So avoid them for sure
Have you tried counciling

I suspect he probably does ,if smoking crack is anything like snorting powder it causes an incredible amount of weight loss over a period of 6 months even

Don't forget to ... not to forget the cigarettes too. lol 🚬

you can't hide being on coke from someone who knows you well sober - almost impossible
I agree with you (but not completely) my wife is very naive when it comes to drugs
She new I had a benzo habit but I was able to develop a powder cocaine habit starting just on a Friday and Saturday then progressing almost every night for 4 or 5 months
Now I know she noticed changes in my mood and the fact I would stay up after she went to bed must have raised suspension,
I'm utterly ashamed I got myself into that position but it's such an easy drug to quit (after only a few months) that ive spared her the truth ,after all cocaine to your average non drug user is a heavy heavy word
Wheather that was or is the right thing to do I don't know but I'm clean of everything 4 months apart from beer, cider, red wine, white, wine ,whisky (I have to hide that lol) and just about anything that contains alcohol
Not at the stage of mouth wash yet

yeah that's kinda what I meant - someone who knows you well will notice that something about you is radically different. The way you speak / carry yourself / your vibe, etc.

watch out for the shame mate it can lead you right back in, cut yourself some slack

Yes you are exactly right ,when normally I'm sullen and barely make conversation I found myself speaking with huge enthusiasm for the most mundane things
But I drink alot so that can sometimes mask changes in personality

Yeh I've been told by my councilor to not think as my progress as an elastic band round my waste and if I slip up I'm all the way back to start
I've been warned to expect lapses
