So there's been studies where they've discovered a corrolation between people who smoke and people who have depression and/or anxiety.
Their takeaway (and what a couple doctors have told me) is that smoking causes a person to be more likely to have depression/anxiety.
However (like with pretty much every psychoactive substance) I feel like it's really obvious that they have the causation backwards and that what the study(ies) ACTUALLY show is that people who have depression/anxiety are more likely to smoke.
TBF my current doctor did agree with me that it was possible when I mentioned this.
