News Severe Co-Codamol Shortage in the UK

Codeine linctus was pretty easy to acquire at pharmacies BITD (mid-late 90s/early 2000s). Definitely not the case these days 8(

Gee’s Linctus was my go-to though. Enough opium tincture to catch a glorious buzz from a bottle. I probably got through 3-4 bottles a day. Should’ve seen some of the wheezes we pulled to get that many each day 8o=D8o

Even picked up a few bottles of morphine cough linctus somewhere in East Anglia. Seemed to be specifically a regional thing cos never came across it elsewhere. Can’t recall the name of it but definitely got you nodding. Pleasingly lemony to boot 😃

I remember I used to buy bottles of kaolin and morphine for a couple of quid. For diarrhea, yeah diarrhea that's it. Honest.

The pharmacist would shake fuck out of mixing the layers. I'd take them home and sit them on a shelf for a couple of months or so then come back separate the morphine layer and drank it. I can't remember how much morphine was actually in it. Or if it had much effect. It's all grist for the mill I guess. This was back when I was on stimulants and weed on a daily basis.

I wonder if you still get it... @4DQSAR any idea?
 
There's a pharmacy in the 'junkie central' area of my town that has generic codeine linctus on display on a shelf at the side of the counter. Although it's technically behind the counter, it's literally only an arms length away. It's been like that for years now.

That’s a temptation.

My village shop when I was a wee laddie had the Spirit Bottles right next to the front door of the shop, I watched the older kids get the lankiest one to quite literally swing in and grab it. Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen that worked.

Need a distraction, and someone with long arms I’d say..

I was questioned by the pharmacist after going in shortly after my then girlfriend had just bought a pack. Asked me who and what it was for, I made up a name and said "lady pain" while gesturing to my belly. He did sell it to me but said something about it being illegal to drive if you take it for extended periods.

Near me there's about 7 pharmacies within a 10 minute drive so it was never much of a problem.

One time after a bout of kidney stones a kind GP prescribed me two months worth of 30/500 co-codamol, kidney stones were gone in a couple of days and I was floating in the clouds for two weeks.

I hear the cloudy residue from Paramol is due to a binder, not paracetamol, as some scare story on here claimed. And you need so little water that the paracetamol would be negligible anyway. It's very, very soluble in water. Try crushing up some pure DHC pills; they're dissolved almost immediately.

Yeah, the cloudy residue from Paramol is a coating on the outside to make em nice an shiny for some fucking reason.
Boots used to do a dhc/paracetamol of their own but when we'd there was no residue.

I used to love the initial buzz from codeine, and found it more sedating and peaceful than dhc, but I still prefer dhc due to it's superior strength, duration of action, and making mundane work fun as it has a more upbeat high.

Buying pure dhc tabs online is cheaper than doing cwe on paramol overall really.

Such a shame doctors are so reluctant to prescribe pure codeine pills over coco's due to the risk of liver failure scaring people to take enough for a buzz... that's not really how addiction works, doc. Addicts find a fucking way, and it's inevitably degrading or damaging. The system is broken. God I sound like a hippy.

Gee's! There ws a little independent pharmacy that'd sell me a couple of bottles every couple of weeks but but the pharmacy was out of my way a bit. Opium tincture with a good bit of ethanol. You can fuck that sizzurp shite with codeine and promethazine.
A quick Google and it seems discontinued. Shame; I liked the rounded, longer lasting effects of opium over codeine or morphine.
There's loads of antique (empty) Gee's Pastilles tins for sale too. Would be worth the novelty if I smoked rollies or something.

It blows my mind how someone will be shady about selling you something that is by LAW legal & sure isn't on a Blue NHS script, if it was my place you could back a truck up & fill the thing up with whatever you wanted.
Sadly a local pharmacy was closed down a few months ago, the guy was selling most things to people, he didn't sell morphine but if you wanted any Pre-Gab, blue or yellow's (5 & 10 mg diazepam) etc he would sell it to you, someone grassed him up & he was raided by the Cops after some Cunt did a controlled purchase.
Why people feel the need to grass on others is beyond me, I have NEVER been able to understand the way a person who informs on others must think, how they can sleep at night is beyond me.

Lucky bastard! I wish codeine would still do it for me, but I just get pins and needles and weird dysphoria.
