I used to live in a ghetto ass area in Maine where the fentheads were heavily marketed sweets and teas/sodas and the sort. It seems to relate to opioid use, a taste for sweet stuff.

I tried growing it (3x) and could never get the seeds to germinate and I'm damm good gardener. And yes I had the proper strain and not sprayed with chemicals. I've seen sites where they sell the pods (papaper som.) complete with seeds but I won't risk buying them as they ask hundereds of USD for very small amounts. Who knows what you'll get (if anything) If I could grow my own I could harvest the latex but as I said I can't get them to start. Here in the states they are legal to grow but illegal once you cut them to weep out the latex. I'm at 9000 feet up in the Rocky Mountains as well and am thinking I wonlt have a long enough growing season. If I could germinate them I'd try growing in my cabin.
Same in punjab we eat the raw opium we call it afeem afterwards we the same sweet sweet tea and Indian sweets it gets the buzz going but we never eat it after food we also don't have anything sour like juices ketchup

someone should post some pics of opium close up and cut into if they ever have any or if they come across any on the net... i never really come across any good pics on the net... all just pics of pods or shots that aren't close up of the actual drug.
my friend was saying there was some specs in the stuff that was supposed to be opium we had when you'd rip into it, but i couldn't really tell. he was saying it was real. it looked more brown than the picture on erowid... i really don't know.... another friend supposedly extracted brown powder out of it, and he gave me some and i vaped it and then smoked it.. i didn't really get too high from like a bowl of the stuff... i really don't know what it was, but the non extracted stuff wasn't really bad tasting like i'd expect incense and really wasn't what tar is described as in smell or taste... it tasted pretty good... i can't really remember... the weed in my town was pretty amazing for a while, so it's possible it could've been real... even smoking like a half gram, i really only got like a light buzz and never smoked it with out weed, so it could've been placebo. i don't know if it's possible to have opium at different potencies... guess it doesn't matter now... i was looking or opium or tar on the dark web years back, and never saw any on all the markets i looked in like 2015-18.... i'd think they'd put up some opium even if it was rare, put it at a high price.

What is the legal status of opium back in the Punjab ? Is it forbidden and people just still partake on the sly - ?
Or is it allowed / tolerated to a certain extent.
Its illegal now few years ago opium addicts were registered and given pods every month by the government. The right winged got banned it
The use of herion pod raw opium is epidemic but eat raw opium the truck drivers 80 per cent of them take pods and raw opium because if you do just the right amount it lifts you.
I was given raw opium by my grandad when I was five I had diarrhea and its used for that

Same here.
When I was in college I had a friend from Syria who always had opium & hashish. Smoking that combo is not only delicious, but the high is indescribably delightful.
45 years later it remains among my fondest memories.

If I was still resident in my home country of Germany, I *might* just about qualify for a legal supply of diamorphine. Here in the UK, not a chance.
They used to do it here in the 50s . O wish it happened but still be buying it they won't give enough to get a really good buzz but it be pure

Have 'smoked' it a few times but have found that oral roa to be the best and just by happy accident (or maybe just being subconsciously tuned into druggy vibes, I always wash it down with some tea, mmmmmmmmm

The traditional opium pipe has a 'damper' that sits on top of the stem, where you place the opium pill and heat it; the stem itself is closed at one end. It only has an opening on the opposite end from which you inhale the vapour.
So very little of the substance is lost.

I wish I had an old-school opium pipe. I don't know where I would find a modern day opium pipe and I assume any antique relic would be VERY expensive.
@TheUltimateFixx and @FunctionalJnkieGrl, could either of you two point me towards a resource that runs down how they ideally operate? I grew up around a ton of metalworkers and I could probably commission a custom one with schematic at some point ...

It's rare to find genuine Chinese antiques now because the Chinese have come to appreciate the craftsmanship involved in these artefacts. (after destroying most opium pipes by burning during the anti-opium craze). Chinese collectors are increasingly seeking out the remaining ones and are willing to pay high prices to 'repatriate' these cultural items.
Even rarer than finding a genuine one is finding one in workable condition that can still be smoked from.
The one I have I got from a French collector who in turn purchased it at a specialist auction, and was downsizing his collection because he was moving house. That thing cost me £1,200.

Yes I was lucky to obtain this old maybe 6floz(possibly 8floz) glass bottle that looked REAL old, could not read it.
Yeah it wasn't the safest idea but our dude insured us by telling us to take a few gulps...wow felt amazing within minutes but obviously needed quite a bit.
After falling in love with the buzz(was already deep into my early years of roxi 30 or any oxy). I purchased the rest of the bottle because I knew this was a true opiate in the general sense.
Instead of orally gulping down the rest of this stuff that I now obtaineed..I experimented with chasing the dragon off aluminum with a very small goop and used WAY less and realized right off the bat, THAT morning - withdrawal had disappeared and slight buzz not as strong as oral....the taste and smell was extremely similar to the taste of chasing a 30 on foil.
Yeah, oh boy if only I had a classic opium pipe.
they are so neat looking..or at least the one and only I had touched as a kid that a good friends biker parent kept in the open, or to use.
But yeah 2nd that on the hash and opium being a great mix, I did the exact same.. although not at all from a friend from middle east..
just some tweaker who kept a serious old stash(who knows maybe he created a concoction similar but maybe used a bit of black tar or a pinch ofsomething ya know?

But I actually got FORTUNATE with that price because the guy wanted to be rid, believe it or not.
When you check out auctions curated specifically for historical opium paraphernalia, if you want to acquire an antique pipe in usable condition, you are looking at upwards of a couple thousand pounds *at minimum*. The market has gotten insane ever since the Chinese recognised the cultural and artistic value of these objects.
