If you fix the underlying cause of the anhedonia then you cure it. In my case its caused by low dopamine in the brain because the invega blocks it. So whats the fix? Well obviously anything dopamenergic will cure it temporarily but it has to have the least amount of damage. Meth will fry your brain but it is the most dopamenergic. Wellbutrin works on dopamine but it isnt very strong otherwise it would be addicting. Parnate is the only other anti depressant that works on dopamine which is why I want it so bad.

It's more like ap's block certain kinds of dopamine receptors in various brain regions, not so simple as just less dopamine. Meth certainly fries brains, and fast. Wellbutrin is basically only dopaminergic in label, but mostly works on norepinephrine, which may help negative symptoms itself. They also have nardil, which isn't offered in my country. What's stopping you from getting parnate?

I have to say again that employment and going to school sped up my recovery so much that I didn't even really have much of a recovery period.

Yeah I agree the brain is far more complicated and we don't know everything about it. Heck psychiatrists are not all in agreement with the dopamine hypothesis of psychosis. Whats stopping me from getting parnate is that first few psychiatrists said ssris are safer and have less side effects than maoi. Most psychiatrists were younger and also had no experience with them. My family doctor is 50 and he has never even heard of them and refused to giev it to me. My current psychiatrist is also young and he said they normally consider maoi after 3 anti depressants failed but a combination also needs to be tried which I have not.

As for employement or school, I went from a tech job to disability after psychosis and invega. The side effects from invega are stopping me. My family say its in my head and im just lazy but I know my brain its dificult to apply for jobs even . Had 13 injections and a traumatic brain injury. Parnate and or adhd meds would allow me to work again i think.

I think a lot of psychiatrists are still against maois because their danger has been a bit overstated because of the dietary restrictions. At first it's important to follow the diet mostly and see how it affects you. People have died by not following it, few though. Still, they're on the line in case something tragic happens. Maois are very effective for treatment-resistant depression.

I always hated when people called me lazy or degenerate or whatever for having a mental illness. I don't have a TBI myself, and I didn't have 13 injections, sorry to hear that.

There's also a big danger with stimulants in abuse potential, and they rev you up a lot.

I fully understand the risk of MAOI and i'm willing to risk it if it will make my quality of life even 50% better. Some woman on reddit mentioned 70% of all her invega side effects dissapeared with just 15 mg of parnate.Thats why I want this medication so bad and I will do everything in my power to get it and even got a plan if my next referral gets denied too.

Stimulants will be impossible to get with my diagnosis but i wont give up there either.

Do you indulge in caffeine? My negative symptoms respond very well to exercise and yoga. And my cat lol.

That's just one person, no offense. I don't think that's reason to put it into your brain.

As for stimulants, idk, I think that for most people they're a liability.

@InvegaAnon
Are you Pro Psychiatry
Or are you Anti-Psychiatry?

You can only pick one.

No. I think psychiatry is a very young medical field and I'm critical of it. It is following the patterns of other developing fields of medicine. It's as flawed and barbaric as surgery once was, especially in its treatment of psychotic disorders. Thar is heavily rooted in ableism. The legacy of the lobotomy is visible. This belief that the mind must be disrupted and cut in order to treat schizophrenia shaped the first generation of antipsychotics. Yet these medications do being people into remission and they can go off of them safely eventually. As our understanding of neurology and neurochemistry expands, better treatments will be invented. We already have a new antipsychotic that works differently and doesn't have the same side effects, it isn't a neuroleptic. Cobenfy. It is however anticholinergic, which can cause issues as well. But it shouldn't cause anhedonia, metabolic disorders, tremors, or TD. Non-psychoactive derivatives of psychedelic drugs also have treatment potential, but they have yet to be studied. We should be looking at how stuff that nature gave us works, and making medicines from that.

I think therapy can do a lot. There are people with mild disorders who only need therapy.

I'm not a black and white thinker. We need current psychiatric drugs the wat we need chemotherapy. They both suck and can be harmful, but it's all we have. One day we'll get rid of all of the double edged swords in medicine, but for now, this is what we have. I took a drug for my autoimmune disease that can cause cancer because it is effective and the best treatment I can get that fits my life goal of having a family of my own. Newer drugs carry a risk for birth defects so I don't want them right now. There will be even better treatments in the next decade because we understand the root cause of IBD. For now, I'm happy that I won't get sepsis or bleed to death from my asshole. People feel the same way about their neuroleptics.

Don't try to change the subject on me.
Just pick one.

Pro Psychiatry Or Anti-Psychiatry?

I want you to expose yourself.
Leave me alone, asshole. I'm psychiatry-critical. I want to be on stimulants again, that's psychiatry. I have friends who need SSRIs, even the very same one that hurt me. I know of a webcomic author who has schizophrenia who is in remission and antipsychotic-free, he even does LSD sometimes thanks to antipsychotics. Dude seems normal and has a loving spouse and lots of pets.

Don't Call me any bad names please.
You can't call people assholes.

I already knew you were Pro Psychiatry.

@paranoid android

Asking a question is not instigating. 🤦‍♂️

It's not wrong to ask people on bluelight
if they are Pro Psychiatry Or Anti-Psychiatry.

Why does that bother you so much?
And why do you not give her a warning?
