Annoying Teenage Terminology

Probably a locality thing near me, but people who say has instead of as. Teh instead of the also infuriates the life out of me. So much so, I set it to autocorrect if I myself ever type it out on my phone.

"Like" is probably the word I've had to train myself to unuse the most. I still catch myself saying it every once in awhile.

When I see people talking in real life and using "like" every other word, like it's really cringe. Like they aren't very intelligent or, like, they endorse the glorification or ignorance, or like whatever. You know, just like... haha.

I thought it was mainly a California thing for most of my life, that stereotypical valley girl accent, but after living all across the US, it's certainly universal.

like, it started a long time ago...

I'm pretty chilled with all this mainly, cos it's really just the old's getting pissed with not understanding the yoot, yeah?

Each gen's language pisses the older one's off, standard.

BUT - I really really struggle with "I would of done xxx" or "could of" There is something about that use of lanuage which genuinely infuriates me to a level which I find quite disturbing. It pushes my buttons, it lights my fuse. It irritates me beyond expression. It boils my fucking piss.

I don't know why it's that expression / use of language in parlicular, but...it is.

I will say, that "rizz" is objectively a great slang term. That's original.

Most other Gen Z terms are just new versions of old slang. I can't remember any Millennial or Gen X slang that equivalates to the meaning and succinctness of 'Rizz'.

Putting this at the end of every title: 💀

I know some 30 somethings who do this, which is even more sad

And then remember when ' they ' ussta say BASED !!!
like they would go . . . . that's based

One time on reddit, I was going on & on about the hypocrisy of alcohol being legal & heroin/opioids not.
And some one commented nothing but the word "deadass".... Which I thought they were trying to insult me, so I was an asshole back toward them.
I thought they were calling me a "dead" "ass" because I'm an opioid user.

Only to learn later on that "deadass" just means they sort of agree with me & that my point was "spot on".

I can't keep up with younger people's internet lingo, but I try my best.

I found it amusing that I felt the need to "like" your comment on the history of "like."

A long time ago someone had a bowl of my homemade chili (of which I'm quite proud) and said it was "the bomb."
That hurt my feelings, since I thought she meant that I had "bombed" like a standup comic who got no laughs.

For me, it's because that sort of misuse abandons all logic. I can understand the confusion between it's and its. But to add an apostrophe to an s that is simply plural makes no sense. Likewise, I really don't get mixing up there, they're, and their.

People simply aren't thinking. At all.

And while I'm booming about things I don't understand....what's the deal with the cat emoji that's supposed to mean I don't care?

If I'm trying to say that I don't care about the subject matter, then I guess I care enough to make the effort to comment on it.
If I'm wanting you to know that I don't care what you think, then obviously I care what you think.

(edit) 🤣 to the responses

Bang on.

I rarely get offended by anything, but what really boils my piss is the total lack of thought and comprehension exhibited by the fuckwits that make up modern society.

God, I'm getting old...
