What's your guilty pleasure song? Vs. You should be embarrassed

And from Hank Williams III

PS-- Apparently talent sometimes skips a generation. Hank III reminds me a LOT of Hank Sr (whom I adore), whereas Hank Jr was just meh.

One of my guilty pleasures is singing Hank Sr for karaoke: not because of who he is, he was a great talent, but because I can't carry a tune

Great song!
Of course, almost all of Hank's songs were great. I'm a confirmed atheist but I still love I Saw the Light. And Your Cheatin' Heart may be the greatest country song ever recorded.
I hope you'll keep singing, whether you can carry a tune or not.

I used to be a regular at a little redneck dive bar that had weekly karaoke nights. Most people did conventional Country or Classic Rock songs. I'd blow their minds when I did this tune:

By the end of the song I'd be thrashing about like a bloody madman. It became quite a hit-- no talent required.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure had more talent than Sid. Not that that is saying much! 😉

What neck of the woods were you from? I was an Ozark hillbilly myself
I'm a TN boy.
I live in Chattanooga now (where I spent my teenage years), but I've also lived in Nashville, Knoxville, Gatlinburg, and Dandridge(a town with literally ONE traffic light).

Well, I can't sing but I'm pretty good at mimicking accents and my "Sid" was spot on. He came by his naturally, so I guess I really did have more talent than he.
Like you said, that's not much! 🤣

PS-- Ozarks, huh? That's Slingblade territory, ain't it?

I don't know about Slingblade. More like Winter's Bone. Yeah, we only had one stoplight at the time, too ( many more now!) One elevator, in the old folks home. I tell people that we used to ride it for thrills.
I'm long removed from my roots, for many years, but I still know the proper way to pronounce "roots", as I reckon you do, too. 🙂
