🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 Gibberings ver. CCXIX - "what's new, c*nty chops?"

Such an expensive time pf year.

Lil one wants to go to a Halloween party so she needs a costume. And our local bom fire is charging £5 a head to get in. Tha(t's £10 out of pocket. Then Christmas round the corner. :(
It is if you follow all the dim-cultural and commercial 'requirements' yeah

I was a single parent (pretty much anyway, mainy) and when broke when kids were little we'd make halloween costumes and not spend much at christmas at all. And would always go to friends on bonfire (no such thing as a bomfire afaik) night or have a fire in the garden , or go to a free one somewhere.

I made it superfun anyway and they didn't mind at all and it taught them some realism and vaulable life lessons

In Wales we've always called them bommies. Short for bom fire.
Am surprised as I knew Wales well too, never heard bommie or bom fire but bonnies or bonfires, same as everywhere else in uk

Can you link to anywhere at all where 'bomfire' is used? Genuinely interested as have never heard it before apart from you last year I think?

EDIT don't stress if you just happen to have mispronounced the word all your life, a similar thing happened to me with a different (altough admittedly slightly less common) word

I just think that unless Bom Fire is limited to your immediate area then you've got this one wrong, but I'm happy to stand corrected if need be

I fucking HATED "Friends" as a teen in the late 90's & I fucking detested Chandler

Later on I disliked Matthew Perry himself for self evident reasons

So, I am rather nonplussed by the grief emoting all over my internet today

Fuck that guy & the horse he rode in on

i've a friend who calls em bomfires too. think of it as a natural variation, like how we use mam, mom and mum

Why did Matthew Perry drown in the hot tub?

Because he wasn't a Schwimmer.
He probably relapsed and couldn't handle it after writing a book about succeeding at sobriety. Just glancing at the picture of his parents gave me the impression they aren't supportive of any irregularities in human behavior.

that's nice of you, but nah...it's just a mistake and not a variation, I bet you've only ever heard it here and from the one friend

we all make 'em, mistakes that is. It doesnt mean we are thick or owt, so why not just 'admit' and learn?

I pronounced bagels as 'ba-gels' instead of 'baygels' for years as my fukkin kids laughed and didn't bother to correct me - the bastards!
