we’ll take it.
The most memorable thing I've watched in the past few months is Dune when it came out on HBO Max for a little while. I love the book series and I feel like they did the movie so well.
"Put your hand in the box."
"What's in the box?"
"Pain."
Nobody did. The whole point of the movie was to show how people, even though they want the good guys to win, still want to see some of those good guys suffer and die by the antagonists of a movie to satisfy their lust for violence. That's why the violence is never directly shown in Funny Games. The director is mocking the audience and their hypocrisy and he did so in a rather brilliant way...but wasn't rooting for the contemporary-fop serial killers
I've always want to see this im a cronberg fan![]()
Cool movie, pretty typical Cronenberg.
" Did your mommy not give u enough attation as a child"!!? BangPlatoon, then full metal jacket. The last is by far the best, I think the best of all the war/anti war movies.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer... it was odd. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t “great”. Been a year or two since I watched it now. I recall being disappointed with how it ended. Didn’t enjoy it enough to view it a second time.Yesterday I watched...
Don't Look Up
Good Time
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
I enjoyed DLU quite a bit, mostly due to the cast I think. Not really my type of movie exactly but I appreciated it.
Good Time was my favorite of the three. I expected it to be because of how much I liked Uncut Gems. I really think Pattinson is a great actor as well.
TKoaSD was a bit over the top. I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts if anyone has seen it.
Like it was a well done film, maybe I missed some of the metaphorical stuff. But among odd “horror” films like that, I wouldn’t rank it high.

I think the awkwardness of the dialogue was intentional yeah. I think it was supposed to help create the tense atmosphere. And I think it was based off some Greek tragedy too, I can’t recall which.Do you remember the awkwardness of the dialogue throughout the film? Was that deliberate? I was thinking it must be, because Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman are too good for there to be any other explanation.
and yeah the ending was pretty stupid. I understand if it was supposed to be metaphorical it doesn't have to be exactly realistic, but it was just sooo out there ya know...
I haven't seen the lobster but I'll check it out.
