Can love conquer all?

All I can say on that particular note, is that is a sickening passage to read in this day and age; obviously back then it may have been considered less taboo.

As for animal sacrifice, this is a tradition that has been around millennium and I don't know what it is, but I can't necessarily differentiate between acquiring power through means of sacrifice and killing to survive. Clearly if a magician felt he needed that much power from an innocent child there must have been a better way.

But I can see your point now about devil worship. I do not however believe that all magic is in the work of the devil. There are temptations there, no doubt. People are fallible. They also have willpower.

Sort of like that book by Stephen King where the protagonist has sex with a succubus and kills her. A means of survival, clearly, but also a sort of heroic move on his part.

I'm sure you're aware, though, that Jesus met many mystics in his travels...? He traveled far and wide to learn the things he did. This is something I think many people like Christians don't consider when they talk about the differences between Jesus, or their religion, or the occult. Jesus, in my opinion, got his powers from Kundalini. He was at probably many points, also, tempted by the devil. Allegedly he had been fasting for forty days before he met the devil in a cave, as I recall. Not all mystics are bad.

Could you perhaps define your interpretation of Magic?

For Crowley to put that in his book, there's no doubt he performed human sacrifices.

About magic, magic is a deception that glorifies the magician, not God.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12
"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you."

"A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you." - E. Hubbard

How true....all of us know how important this is....we all have stuff put away in the dark closets of our lives....yet love brings light to that darkness....
Wow. I am getting super sentimental here....aplogies

of course I can!
I am a human being too.
everyone goes through this.
It is a battle.

Try not to base YOUR happiness on someone else though.
That will save you a lot of pain !
P1 let me ask you another question then; how an an atheist like myself find/know love?

If god is love then an atheist could know god if love was the only god there is, no Jesus, no aliens manipulating us from above...
There's another alternative that you can experience love but mistake what it is and I wouldn't be offended to be told I'm mistaken.

It would make more sense to say to know love you have to know god first, if god is love.
It makes more sense that people who think god is love - to me at least - would reject me ever being able to know love.

Open to alternative perspectives.

@Captain.Heroin I can see a paradox in what you are asking? When we say we love somebody body and soul, what would the soul part mean to an atheist? But perhaps, love will find you instead....
Dualism doesn't mean religious beliefs have to apply.

Philosophical dualism vs materialism.

As far as language goes, why people still consider that animals can't talk to eachother? Take wolves/ravens/whales and many other. I worked with animals so I know, I've worked at a wolf sanctuary. We associate with animals, as spirit animal, as knowledge, sometimes even culturally and other ways. Animals express feelings. They aren't robots, maybe for you if you want, they could. I think OP through this question ask if there's a balance in chaos, and I question him. I mean, it's a useless thought.

Well my friend... it took a Near Death Experience for me.

I considered myself an “atheist” before my NDE.
It changed my entire point of view.

You will KNOW when you find true love.
It just may be hiding in a place that you had never imagined.
Right inside of yourself.

May The Force Be With You C.H.

I think animals can communicate with each other. I speak fluent dolphin.

Animals can most definitely communicate with one another and with us, if you are listening and have an open mind and heart!

I speak fluent dolphin also my sister!

I can communicate with all animals actually!
But especially dolphin and whale!

I listen to whale calls while I meditate or if I need comforting.
They will help me sleep no matter what!

What is your spirit animal @CoastTwoCoast ?

thanks for the sentiments p1, I just don't find the need to redefine atheism in my life to feel totally at peace w/ everything.

Jesus himself hates religion.

You would do well if you came to know Jesus.
He is The Lord and Savior!
He can save you and show you The Way.

It has nothing to do with religion.
I know religion turns almost all of us off here.
Religion turns me off and always has.

We are talking about Unconditional Love.
That kind of Love can and will conquer ALL!

That is just fine Love.
These things happen to everyone in different ways and we all have our own ways of understanding and destiny.

You are doing just fine!
I wish you to be at Peace!
