Science Almost all near-death experiences have these visions in common — study

I am telling you guys, the Near Death Experience that I had, changed my entire personality.
It was more real than this reality.

So what is this reality if what I experienced was more real than this reality.
In fact, it made an impression on you that THIS IS WHAT IS REAL!

Take some DMT and come back and give us a report!
you will become a believer!
guaranteed!

Best you use your own DMT though. Build it up through meditation. Take a walk on the wild side.

it's been long suspected that near death experiences result from the brain being flooded with endogenous dmt and 5meodmt, ofc theres going to be a lot of similarities across all people, the same way any dmt and 5meodmt trip is similar across all people

the "white tunnel" effect is something I've personally had happen when "whiting out" from a high dose of 5meodmt

"talking with long lost loved ones" sounds suspiciously like someone talking to machine elves when they didn't know they were tripping and the set/setting made them color and remember the experience a certain way

well, you were still inside your body when the above happened. The white tunnel is the entrance out of your body.
I went through it and I popped out of my belly button.

I was in my spirit body then....

SCORING:

Sum of all 16 items = total NDE Scale score

Among a criterion group of NDErs, the mean score on this scale was 15 with a standard deviation of 7.84; we therefore use a score of 7 or greater (1 standard deviation below the mean) as the cut-off point for identifying an experience as an NDE.

Sum of items 1-4 = cognitive component

Sum of items 5-8 = affective component

Sum of items 9-12 = paranormal component

Sum of items 13-16 = transcendental component

I scored a 31 on the Greyson Scale for Near Death Experiences!
OMG! They do not even have an “explanation” for a 31!
The highest they have scored is a 13-16!
WOW!!

Theres a lot of reasons - number one is probably that you have just almost died are desperately lonely and the only time anyone thinks you are important is when you tell this silly fucking story about seeing the afterlife. You're 200lbs of flaccid, fishbelly cellulite, you've got no friends, you havn't been laid since Jimmy Carter was president but if I tell this story I'm the next best thing to God!! I know how it feels - I havn't been laid since Carter was president either.

Is everyone who says they've been taken aboard a UFO and had an anal probe telling the truth? No, they're lying.

I'm not judging anyone by the way - but I think NDEs are more about loneliness than anything else.

Wtf are machine elves

Some, but it’s not absolute.
Was it a real experience? Were they hallucinating? Are some of them just lying for some reason?
All of the above and possibly more. It interests me, particularly when people change significantly based on such an experience, which happens.
Plus I think it’s good for an interesting discussion. 🙂

True duggles, I'm a bit cynical cos I was really into it when I was a kid - wow this is what happens when you die!. Then it slowly dawned on me that they were almost always a fucking christian trying to con me and I was so disgusted I stopped reading about them. Didn't it turn out that raymond moody himself was some sort of fucking religious nut even tho he always denied it?

Apparently he believes in God, but doesn’t practice a religion, at least this was true in 2012.
One key revelation: despite his frustrations with some religious and New Age interpretations of his work, and the fact that he does not practice a religion, the psychologist and philosopher who grew up the son of an agnostic surgeon says he has “woken up to God.”
“From the very beginning (of my afterlife studies) I was hearing people with experiences, some of whom had not been religious and some of whom were, and whatever they had been before, afterward there seemed to be a sort of commonality, which is the understanding that yes, there is a God,” Moody said.

How much faith do you put in peoples reports? I used to read a lot about it untill I eventually realised how many of the people claiming "I saw the tunnel to God" were actually christians trying to push their religion.
That is actually not true at all. Also in the Northern and Central European countries the study in the article took place in: Denmark, Germany, and Norway; religion/spirituality, and lack of for atheists are meant to be extremely personal and private, and not public, and public attempts of conversion to any religion, spirituality, or even atheism is seen as aggression. It is also this way in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Sweden, and Iceland.

Did you read the article? It mentions DMT but says that there is no evidence of a NDE being the result of DMT.

There is no evidence that DMT is released at the time of death. DMT does exist in the body as the byproduct of other chemical reactions. There is no evidence that DMT is produced in the human brain. DMT has been found in microdialysate of rat pineal glands, but there is no proposed mechanism of production in the pineal/brain. There is no evidence that DMT is associated with dreaming.

Wikipedia has an extensive entry on DMT that lists all of the studies and conclusions to date.

I have long thought that the process of death must be about far more than DMT release in the brain, though DMT is evidently used as a neurotransmitter or at least is produced as a waste product in the body, as it is found in cerebrospinal fluid in trace amounts. There is a study that is linked to in the NPD forum where some researchers induced cardiac arrest in rats and measured the brain activity and presence of DMT. Interestingl;y, they found that for some of the rats, there actually was a flood of DMT, but for some, there wasn't. I'm cautious to try to say that DMT is responsible for this, especially since people aren't reporting endless fractals and other phenomena that recreational DMT use produces. But it's really interesting.

I agree.

My Near Death Experience happened in 2009.
I am slim and good looking. No problem getting laid.
telling anyone about it had quite the opposite effect for me.
my family is Mormon. I had to tell them that Jesus does not like religion.
(not to mention Mormonism is complete B.S)
I have lots of friends also.

Doctors who see that I had Liver Failure look at me in a new way and say “ oh, you know then. You need to help others!”
without me saying a word. So they know.

So, there goes your ”theory”.

PS: It is interesting that The Name of Jesus is the only thing that will stop “Alien abductions “ in their tracks!
