Science Almost all near-death experiences have these visions in common — study

The United States and Canada have very large populations and most people in both countries do not use drugs and most have never used PCP.

I am a Gen Xer and PCP has been around and used since the late 1960s and for sure all through the 1970s when it was used by the baby boomers born in mid 1940s through early 1960s. I am not sure if teens today use it but I am sure some do.

I too am a gen xer and pcp has never been a thing over here. We have a relatively small population and possibly a higher percentage of drug takers. The problem is that our drugs are generally shit, that's why we take so many...

Both please.

As long as I don't have to look at her tuna hot pocket she can fist me 'til the cows come home! (or in this case until he pig comes, period).

No, I definitely wouldn't. I have had sex with women, although there was nothing enjoyable about it for me. I'd never wanna bottom with a female, either, I'd rather top if I had the choice.

Gen Z here. Never ever heard of PCP being used over here either.

In North America the drugs are strong if you have a good source, or maybe they were high quality as I was in a port city and close to NYC and other major cities in the Northeast? The first time I took LSD at 16 it was so high of a dose I lost the ability to hear and speak, and later had an out of body experience. But the OBE was not like the type people get from or describe as astral projection or near death experiences. I just saw myself from outside of myself or above lying spreadeagle on the bed tripping hard to blue Christmas lights and fractals and zebra striped pinwheels coming out of the light in my room. All of this was from a single windowpane or geltab.

I have no idea how many mics or ug that dose was but I thought all LSD was that strong, and did not take it again until I was an adult and had tripped on a high dose of mushrooms and had psychedelic experiences from eating and smoking hash and cannabis.

I've a feeling that cduggles is going to come and spank all our arses for going off topic soon, so in an attempt to appease her:

I don't find it all surprising that these reports of so called NDEs have common visions. Our brains are biological. They are all built the same way. They are geared toward keeping the body alive and once deprived of oxygen they respond by releasing an excess of neurotransmitters in a last ditch attempt to keep things running. This can result in an hallucinatory experience that may or may not be remembered if revived. Drugs of hallucination are also renowned for provoking very similar experiences within their participants which can be coloured by culture, faith, suggestion and wishful thinking. How this experience is interpreted is up to the individual, but it is surely nothing more than an evolutionary response to the trauma of dieing.

Could it be possible that your brain was starved of oxygen long enough to give you brain damage and demote you from the rank of rational atheist to that of irrational believer? Just sayin'... ;)

Could it be possible that the “reality” we are in right now is just a hallucination?
That is what scientists are finding.

Not everyone has the same brain chemistry, or reacts the same way to drugs. I know people who took the same LSD in the same dose as their friends who also took it all together. Unlike their friends however, they did not see any visuals or really trip, at all and the experience was more mental for them, and it was not fake LSD or dosed ultra low.

I know people who had similar reactions with magic truffles where they did not see visuals at all even from moderate or large doses.

Your Brain Hallucinates Your Conscious Reality.” In this presentation, Seth gives examples in which humans utilize patterns of recognition to form a perception of reality. He stated, We don’t just passively perceive the world, we actively generate it. The world we experience comes as much if not more from the inside out as from the outside in.” This recent study produced by the University of Michigan seems to have provided a biochemical basis for Dr. Seth’s notion that the “brain hallucinates conscious reality.”

If reality is indeed a “hallucination,” perhaps the visions reported from near-death experiences are as real as anything else humans perceive during “normal” states of perception. Further research m
ust take place in order to better understand the nature of reality and DMT’s role in it. Dr. Borjigin and her team are leading the charge in terms of exploring the biological correlates of extreme moments of perception. Unfortunately, NIH funding has been scarce for this field of research. It’s unfortunate, as these DMT studies generate compelling data to help provide nothing less than a framework for the underlying truth of reality. If you’re interested in helping her research ventures and providing financial support to these extremely interesting studies, you can do so by donating directly to her lab here.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised. I frequently feel like nothing around me is real, almost like I could peel a film off from over my eyes and there'd be an unimaginably different reality behind, like we're wearing perma-virtual reality goggles.

So some people do not react typically to hallucinogens. According to the original article, only 10% of respondents reported recalling an 'NDE', so are these are the outliers that do not exhibit a typical response to death? Does this mean these are the 'chosen ones' or the freaks..?

I was asked to “bare witness” of these things and I agreed to do it!
These are not things that are new information!
These things are known from the beginning of time!
Research. Read some history.
You will see that I am correct!

WE ARE THE “MESSENGERS “!
and you cannot say that I did not try and tell you!

All this proves is that nobody had an out of body experience in his office or surgery area. Or maybe they did but nobody could read his handwriting? 😂
Well he put it in the place where they revived people who had heart attacks etc in a massive hospital - of the ones who claimed to "be on the ceiling looking down" he simply asked them "What did the sign say?". None of them ever knew. What does that tell you? Well, it means they wern't on the ceiling! What else could it mean?

And "hearing things while you were unconcious" is certainly possible - that doesn't imply an afterlife at all.

Try not to accept everything at face value because it's comforting to you. I'd like to see all my loved ones again and maybe living forever would be fun - but as you get older you realise it's just religious bullshit and lies. Sad but true, but in the long run the truth is more comforting than lies.

UFOs are experimental military aircraft, or some were the prototypes of drones.

Given how vast the universe is humans are not the only intelligent life, and Earth is not the only planet with life in it.

Now would aliens want todo you visit earth or abduct humans? Probably not. 👽

Funny how so many of them looked like flying saucers tho isn't it - like in the hoaxes and hollywood films.

My guess is "intellgent life" would have technology a bit more advanced than 1950s fucking "saucers". Every intelligent lifeform develops the flying saucer! Fucking hilarious right? Maybe it's a bit easier to fake a saucer than a milenneium falcon

Life might be common - multicellular life won't be as common - as far as we are aware that only happened once in the history of the earth and is probably as rare if not rarer than life itself. Then multicelluar life developing into intelligent life will be even rarer. It's possible but a lot of people are now leaning towards the idea that intelligent life might just be here.

The thing that makes me hate these lying fuckers so much is the thing they're preying on - people who miss their loved ones. I miss my dad and I'd give anything to see him again for a few minutes. The fact that some lying bastard is williing to exploit that vulnerability makes me sick to my stomach.
